Parnate and food interaction Q

Posted by bitkit on May 28, 2009, at 12:55:57

Hi all,

I started on Parnate a few weeks ago. Am at 40mg right now.

My mother has recruited me to embark on a juice fasting weekend at a spa. I know those are basically inane and pointless, but she's paid for it and I can't turn it down.

Q: I suspect some of the juice will have *apple cider vinegar* in it because of the supposed fat burning qualities. Do you think this is a risky interaction for me?

Q2: Should I harass them about the supplements they may add to the juice?

Q3: Has anyone had any trouble with conventional frozen meals like Lean Cuisine (without cheese sauce or sausage of course)? They list autolyzed yeast so I've stayed away so far in fear but I hate to give them up altogether.

Thanks in advance,

Catherine

Hi! I've also been on Parnate (30mg) for a few weeks. I've been very careful with the diet except for coffee and have found I can tolerate 3 large cups over the course of a day with no bad effects. Bananas have been ok also. I'll be very interested in the info you find out! I'm not nearly as apprehensive about the diet as I was to begin with. Have a great time at the spa! Gayle

Hi Gayle,

I agree I'm not quite as apprehensive either.

So far I've had coffee, cola, mozzarella and sour cream with no ill effects. I know those have been basically discounted as triggers anyway, but I was terrified at first!

Will continue to be cautious and report back about any findings.

It's good to have support. Depression is hard enough without this living fear!

Depression is HELL, that's for sure, and the anxiety. I've had it for 15 years and still struggle. I think maybe the Parnate is working and I'm really hopeful it will be the drug for me! And I am now thinking the diet is very "do-able".
I haven't done any frozen dinners yet, either. I eat a lot of vegetarian stuff (I'm not one) and especially like the Morning Star Veggie Patties. They, and every single Morning Star food, have all that autolyzed or hydrolyzed yeast which turns immediately into MSG. Darn. I don't know about the apple cider vinegar. I've had balsamic vinegar and it was ok.
I imagine all those juices will be fine...at least fresh with no additives!
Kick back and enjoy being served!
Gayle

Hi: I hope your spa weekend was enjoyable! I think you started Parnate about the same time I did. I don't think mine has "kicked in" yet. I'd love to compare notes with you. If the food stuff is too boring for the Forum we could Babblemail. I'm signed up for it and would welcome a Babblemail from you! Gayle
