Prozac anxiety - likely to go after 3 weeks??

Posted by pluginbaby on June 30, 2008, at 5:07:22

Hi

I've been on Paxil for 10 years and recently cross-taperd over to Prozac at my pdocs advice because I would like to get pregnant (and prozac is considered safer). The problem is that after 3 weeks on 20 mg prozac (and 15mg 2 weeks before that, and 10mg 3 weeks before that) I still have anxiety every day. Is it possible this will abate in a couple more weeks, or am I likely to keep feeling wired on this med?

Thanks
Jax

Well first welcome to babble a lot of good advise here. I'm sure someone will pop on and be able to answer your question. I do know my own experience was that prozac for me was more activating than paxil. Good luck. Phillipa

Prozac is usually considered the most "activating" SSRI and thats usually used in a positive sense. I dont recall it particularly producing much anxiety in me so im going to guess it was the weening off of paxil after such a very long time thats causing it.

It may take quite a bit of time to figure out the answer given the length of time of you were on paxil.

Every person is different as the old psych catchphrase goes.
