God bless Nardil.

Posted by football on April 27, 2007, at 13:45:48

I'm feeling better then I've felt since freshman year of high school. My depression is COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY GONE. It really is an amazing feeling to go from having major depression every day for years and then to just have it disappear so suddenly, like a candle being blown out.

The other main reason I began taking Nardil was for help with my SAD. Before I began taking N., I took some test that told me my social anxiety rated as "very high." I took the same test the other day and it now rated as "moderately high," so obviously there's been some significant improvement. There's no longer any anxiety associated with calling people I don't know, going shopping by myself in a busy store, returning items back to a store, and a zillion other little things that would have made me go crazy with anxiety before. Yesterday, I had 3 hours of psych administered to me by some recent college grad. I spent much of the time talking, joking, and flirting with her, while 3 months ago I probably would have hardly spoken a word.

However, I still have a significant of improvement that still needs to be made, social anxiety wise; so I start CBT next Tuesday, and I see my new very highly regarded pdoc on the 10th, who I only was able to make an appointment with because my moms friend has some connections.

I'm very optimistic the CBT will help, and that the new pdoc will raise my Nardil dosage to 90 MG and increase my fairly low Klonopin dosage as well.

I've beaten the depression and I'm nearing that knock-out punch to my social anxiety!

Good for you!! Nardil is a great drug. If what I take didn't work so well, Nardil would be my next choice. There is a group you can join for MAO users to chat if you are interested.

If you have been taking SSRIs that havent helped you and always thinking about trying a MAOI but scared to try because of its nasty side effects in the beginning (which lessen or go away in time), please read the TOP post by FOOTBALL.

That, my friend, should give you HOPE.

Hope, hope, hope, hope, hope, and hope!!!!!!!!!!

That's awesome, football. I'm actually starting Nardil in 1 month, for the first time. After like 3 years of searching, I found a doc who will prescribe it.

I have a couple of questions for you:

How long did it take for it to kick in? At what dosage? Do you feel any side effects? How hard is it to keep the diet?

Thanx in advance,
GI

GI you didn't ask me but I'll answer anyway. I would say that Nardil is a serious undertaking, especially if you rush it like me. I've been on it for 5.5 weeks and feel content, even blissful at times. Anxiety and depression virtually gone. BUT I'm fat, have low low blood pressure, sleep during the day and sex has gone down the toilet. As I'm heavy I figured it meant taking 90mg a day. So perhaps if you don't take so much as me, or take it more slowly, you won't get the same side effects as me. In any case the side effects are supposed to go away. Also I read that once you've deactivated your MAO, it takes ages to make more, so you can drop to a low maintenance dose. Ken Willman on psychotropical.com is the man to listen to

I hope things happen for you. I'm 60 and after all these years I wish I'd been given this stuff 40 years ago. It was available too. How different things might have been
all the best
Fred

I'm alternating between 60 and 75mg and I feel dizzy, tired, empty, agoraphobic. Just as bad as ever. How long have I been on this dose? I think you have to be on the right dose for 4 weeks, then you can drop it down. But at the moment I'm as bad as ever, plus side effects

Have any of you switched directly from MAOI to MAOI without a waiting period?
My Dr. HAS me before but I felt dizzy.
I want another go at Nardil and leave Emsam.

hi,
Not advisible. I have done it before with no problems, and heard of many doing it with no problems. However I have seen one clinical report of swapping instantly leading to stroke, and subsequent death....
Cheers:)
