Would CRF Antagonists only work for somebody who didn't suppress cortisol in a Dexamethasone Suppression test?

Hi Phillipa,
I'm not sure what I mean either :-)
Well the theory behind CRF antagonists is that people who suffer from depression have high level of cortisol and they have a dysfunctional HPA axis (that's my interpretation anyway). This high level of cortisol is highlighted during the dexamethasone suppression test. When a normal person takes dexamethasone then they should naturally supress cortisol because that is what the drug does but with somebody with high level of cortisol then they don't supress cortisol (that's my understanding anyway).
Well as I did supress cortisol, I was wondering if my cortisol levels and my HPA axis would be regarded as normal and was wondering whether or not I would not respond to one of these Cortisol Releasing Factor drugs.
I don't know, sometimes I'm just searching blindly. I haven't a clue what I'm doing or what I'm talking about :-)

Sorry to interupt
Do you know you have your babblemail switched off?
Anyway I was wondering how you got Cortisol supression test done?

Hi Tom,
I have been told but then when I went to reset it I couldn't remember my password and then I got completely side tracked anyway I'll reset it.
Re the DST Test, I managed to persuade my Doctor to let me have one. I think they get tired of me asking for bizzare requests :-)
Whereabouts in the UK do you live Tom?
Denise
