I take the Klonopin (although at 1 mg it is definately depressing) to avoid the Xanax up and downs. I tried Xanax XR, but that just didn't work well at all.

Do you mean substitute the Xanax for the Klonopin-so that maybe I'd be taking 1.5 mg (0.5 x 3)Xanax/day instead of 0.75 mg Klonopin + 0.5 mg Xanax?

I am new to this board (to boards at all) and I am always wondering if I am saying something I shouldn't or offending people or making board faux pauxs...I hope not because I have really enjoyed my short time here and been blessed by the empathy and compassion you all have. Thanks for letting me in.

I'm pretty new, too, Mary and have had similar thoughts...I think it's just natural not to want to see how many people, who have a great deal of information and comfort to offer, that you can piss off. I've read your posts and they all seem very sweet to me; don't worry.

I always feel that way. Did you know over *500* people posted on Babble last month? To keep up across the boards, you would've had to read 376 posts every day.

> Other people seem to have disappeared.

In Toronto, it was gratifying that several people at the table remembered my prior incarnation here and kinda wondered what had happened to him; Fallsfall said her connotations about my old screen name were positive. I appreciated knowing those things; that I was noticed.

> It's depressing somehow.

Their experience was the less without you, whether they ever knew it or not.

I tried Zoloft once and all it did for me is make these bouncing little circles follow me around wanting to be my friend. Must have given me hallucinations!!! LOL

Not necessarily. Although hypomania does seem to help me see the humurous side of things. Sometimes life is so ridiculous, you've got to laugh. I guess it's better than crying :-)
Have fun!

Hi Ed,

I'm not here much these days but it is a bit like Oz sometimes - people come and go so quickly. Me, I'm working on not staying around much - I'm gettin' a little too long in the tooth in babble years. (Smile)

Hope you're well and better from the viral situation. I'm still wonderful.

Best,
G

Yeah, totally. In the past year, (for various reasons) i typically go weeks and weeks between posts and sometimes even weeks between reading stuff on the board. But i used to be a multiple-posts-per-week babbler. It is kind of disheartening: no one knows what you're like, your conditions, problems; you don't feel like your comments-- and questions-- command as much importance. And not to mention, like you said, there are so many new people (which is cool), and many of the recognizable people are gone. And then you also wonder what all of the many interesting discussions and points or suggestions you missed, and what questions of yours has already been touched on just last week or what have you. So yeah, it really starts to suck after you're gone for weeks or more. But oh well.
(Sorry i should stop speaking in the 2nd person so much).

I'm new to babble here too. I've only been posting for a couple of months. I'm the weird woman that writes too much. It makes me self concious. I think people run in the opposite direction when they see one of my posts because I go on and on. I don't know how to leave short replies and to the point answers without dragging things out. The doctors say it's my racing thoughts. I am very thankful for babble. This is the only place I can go to where there are real people that can relate to my illness and actually have answers. I feel bad sometimes when I am looking over posts where no one has responded to the person. I almost want to just write to that person and tell them that I'm sorry that I don't know anything about the med they are asking about, but that I did read their post and that I feel for them. There's so much that I don't know about all of this illness and med stuff, but y'all are teaching me. I've learned a lot. Thank you all for giving me the chance to be part of your group.

Hi Bassman

Xanax needs to be taken every few hours to prevent ups and downs. Have you tried taking a small dose every few hours eg. 0.25mg?

Ed,
No I haven't...I think I'm going to taper off the Klonopin (that's no problem; done it before). My plan was similar-I was going to take two 0.5 mg Xanax XR per day-I was even hoping I could just switch from the 0.75 mg Klonopin/day directly. That made a great deal of sense to me. The XR just seemed almost like a different drug to me-it make me sleepy. So I tried it and had a massive period of panic the next morning and that was the end of that plan. As I write about it, maybe it is still a good plan. One more time for the Gipper? :>}

Hi Dave

>I was even hoping I could just switch from the 0.75 mg Klonopin/day

It's often more comfortable to increase one benzo while you decrease the other. Abruptly switching from one benzo to another can sometimes cause withdrawal symptoms, especially if the doses are not 'equivalent'.

Ed, today was my third full day of trying exactly the complete switch I was referring to from Klonopin to Xanax XR. You're right-not a good idea. Even that short time and I think I'll take a couple days to recover! It's funny, if someone had said they were going to do exactly what I just did, I would have given them the same advice you gave me-there's everything to lose and nothing to gain by doing the switch quickly. I also was guilty of my own bias that Klonopin and Xanax are about equal,on a per mg basis (some sources say Klonopin is twice as "strong")-so I subsituted 1 mg Xanax/day for the 0.75 mg Klonopin/day I was taking. Things got nasty faster than I would have guessed! :>} Human, all too human.

Yes, somewhat. Although i prefer the term "veteran" to "old timer." :?) ... (cuz i feel like an old-timer sometimes, even at 25).

Right now I'm "$#@! the switch". I've got a gig this Saturday for which my band can't play one song right and a wedding to attend with family (like the ones I don't want to ever see again; despite the fact I wish each of them nothing but the best in life) the next Saturday. So I'm stressed!:>} I'm thinking maybe I'll just decrease the Klonopin in the hopes that takes away some of the depression. I sure don't need another nightmare like the Klonopin-Xanax XR direct switch brewed up. I'm taking 15 mg Prozac and 150 mg Wellbutrin, so I could increase one of them, too.
