Why on earth did you go to all the trouble of breaking your wrist, dear?

Sorry... You know I gotta tease, right?

I'm pretty sure your pharmacist would have said something, don't you think? And you can call him now, and ask. I don't know anything about it myself, but I did want to say I'm sorry you got hurt. I hope it gets better soonest.

Take care of yourself.

OK, I checked the interactions checker at drugdigest.org, and it says that there is no interaction for these drugs.

I hope that helps. And that the oxycodone helps the pain. That's got to hurt like a nasty word.

Maxime -

I was on oxycodone while on Nardil. I even went through surgery while on Nardil and was given dilauded (hydromorphone) afterwards. The only opiate pain med to NOT take with MAOIs is DEMEROL.

You should be fine on oxycodone.

Jerry :-)

Yep. Pethidine/ meperidine (Demerol) and tramadol (Ultram) are the two opiates that are no-nos. I believe that others are fine.

Hi Maxie

((((Maxie))))

I'm so sorry you broke your wrist :( Is the oxycodone helping the pain? I hope so. Are you taking oxycodone + acetaminophen?

Lots of love

Ed

Heating pad? » maxime

I know it doesn't sound like it would do anything when it's bone pain, but often a heating pad really does reduce pain for me. I think it's just relaxing the muscles a bit, so that there's no additional pain? Maybe? Or maybe it really does something?

I'd "prescribe" trying it along with the oxy, of course...

A sort of self-hypnosis type thing that doesn't sound like it would help, but actually does, is to concentrate on your pain -- focus on it, and try to describe it. Try to identify every nuance of it. Believe it or not, that actually reduces the pain for me, when I do it. Or maybe it just reduces how much the pain bothers me...

Maxi, I'm sorry you're hurting. I also prescribe dark chocolate... ;-}

Maxie I hate to physically be cold but the formula is the first 48 hours ice then you can use heat 20minutes at a time. Of course I didn't do this myself. But the minute the cast was off the pain went away. Check to make sure your fingers are a good color pink . Then test for sensation press if you have fingernails to see on them and see if the color returns after pressing on them. This means the circulation is okay. Next but the most important make sure the cast is not too tight. You should be able to slip something easily between the cast and skin. I don't want to worry you but if a cast is too tight doesn't happen often but can it caused what is known as compartment syndrome where the blood flow is cut off from the tissue and you have tissue death. This is a dangerous condition as i said it rarely happens but i did testify in court on two compartment syndrome cases where amputation happened. One was young basketball player who ended up losing his leg. He kept complaining of pain to the nurses and they called the docs who refused to see them at that time just told them to medicate the pt again. The nurses argued with the docs in the end the nurses lost and had to pay monetarily as they should have gone over the doctors head and cut off the casts to restore circulation. I know this isn't the case for you but just make sure there is ample room in the cast. In my case all I ended up with was pressure sores as I knew from previous breaks that it should not continue to hurt especially since it was my wrist area in pain and the break was my elbow and I knew it wasn't referred pain. Maxie were the breaks simple or compound? Did they pin them? A compound break would be more painful if they had to set the bones a simple fracture doesn't require anything except the x-rays to comfirm the break and the cast or hard splints. Pray tell how are you performing the simpliests tasks you know what I mean with the use of no hands or arms. Love Phillipa
