More stuff on clonazepam

Posted by fenix on February 1, 2006, at 18:35:58

Yeah, sorry to bring up this topic again.

Anyway, I was complaining in a past post earlier about how I thought Purepac generic clonazepam was weak. The reason I thought it was weak was because I had clonazepam two years ago at the same dosage, however, I remember it back then being a lot more potent.

So, I figured the reason why the clonazepam I took two years ago was better was because it was probably a different generic brand. Well, I dug through some old papers and I found out to my surprise that the clonzy I took 2 years ago was in fact by Purepac too!

And then it hit me... the clonzy I am on now are pink .5mgs, the ones I was on 2 years ago were like orange 1mg tabs. What I think has happened here is, for some reason Purepac makes .5mg tabs weak for some reason, maybe accidentally. For example, if I compared taking 2(.5mg) tabs with just taking 1(1mg) tab, the 1mg tab would be way more potent for anxiety. This is really weird!

And I recall from some other posts on some other websites of people complaining about Purepac being weak *however*, they described the pills as being pink! Which is the color of the .5mg tablet!

So there is definetly something wrong with the pink pill. I think...

I truly believe if you're lucky enough to afford it, brand is best when it comes to klonopin. That's what my doc tells me. He was also a researcher for klonopin and anxiety use. But, who knows...

I would look at Costco.com. I believe you pay $5 extra if you're not a member -- I could be wrong.

They appear to have different suppliers, if you are interested -- Teva, another large generic manufacturer.

Isn't that illegal? Besides, I don't have the money to spend on the brand name.... :(

Oh, sorry, yeah it isn't illegal, I thought Costco was one of those illegal overseas pharmacy things. Oops.

Sorry... make that 5%, not $5. And some insurance is accepted there, I just dont know which. There really is no reason to buy brand name benzodiazepines these days; the raw materials and manufacturing is the same as it has been for more than 40 years. The only place where it would matter is if one is say epileptic or diabetic and requires that absolute tolerance in the medication. Otherwise, its really money gone. Teva is a large Israeli drug conglomerate that makes new patented medications for the market as well as generics.

I know but there is something definetly wrong with these pink Purepac clonazepams. They seem very weak for anxiety. Maybe I got a strange batch of them.

I take the generic in klonopin & it's made by Teva. It's a green pill. There is a difference between manufacture's. I changed pharmacy's one time & the generic I was given did nothing for me. Try Teva's generic. I think you will find it works much better.

Also, I had just mentioned this thread to my p-doc, and he had said that while the ingredients may be the same it is conceivable that each manufacturer uses a slightly different base, which means that the release of the drug into the body could occur at a different rate, if I understood him correctly.

Thanks Zena, and sorry to be a nuisance about asking this next question then: how do I get Teva generic? The Walgreens I go to has Purepac.

Do I ask Walgreens to just get me some Teva generic? Do I ask them to do it before I get my next prescrition or after? And my doctor also faxs the prescriptions over so maybe I should just ask her to write them out to me next time?

I am confused!

I take a version of clonazepam by Watson, and haven't noticed a difference between this generic version and brand name (besides the $$$$)

Hi Fenix,
I get mine at Target. Do you have a Target store near? If you do have your Dr. fax the prescription in. I hope this helps. All this stuff can be confusing. It took me almost a yr. to get it all figured out.

Costco's generic Klonopin is excellent.

I take Costco's generic Klonopin, 1 mg tablets. They are green, round, flat and scored. They are very easy to break in half. The potency is good.

I used to take generic Klonopin at Kaiser Permanente, 1 mg tabs, but they were blue, round, and very difficult to cut in half, even using a knife. The potency was about the same.

Go to Costco, you'll be satisfied.

Hi Lazarus,
Costco still can't beat target on prices. I got my generic klonopin refilled yesterday-I got 35 tablets for 9.95. And they were the green tablets than can be easily cut in half made by Teva.
Very interesting to say the least.

Hi Zena,

I didn't know that Target had lower prices than Costco. Thank you.
