Seroquel in trial for SAD by Davidson

Posted by sdb on November 30, 2005, at 15:47:35

Seroquel is in trial by Davidson, Jonathan MD

Same author of some trials of Klonopin (clonazepam).

I know pharmacology of neuroleptics, but I have almost no personal experience.

What do you think about that?

Meh, not really interesting in seeing it approved...

I would say it made me less social, sedating me too much, without any anti-anxiety properties. It certainly was not good for my SAD, up to 200mg. See my new post btw... :)

I would not use antipsychotics for social anxity disorder on any grounds.

I normally don't think too much about my sociability, but on zyprexa I was afraid to go out for fear of sounding dumb.

Some researchers have even linked a problem with the d2 receptor to social anxiety, whereby blocking it would probably make things much worse.

bad idea. I took abilify in part b/c my shrink told me the antipsychotic would also relieve anxiety. WRONG! I felt stupid, but still tense, oversedated, and generally anxious. NOt fun..not fun AT ALL. What's the big deal? Klonopin's cheap, safe, and has a proven track record; why replace it with this overpriced drug that causes weight gain, diabetes, tardive dyskinesia, and neuroleptic malignancy syndrome? I mean, please..this is KLONOPIN we're talking about here, not seconal or something...the "addiction" is way overblown by: puritanical docs who seem to think that treatment must be painful....and 2) Big Pharma, which can only make money on new expensive drugs by attempting to discredit the old drugs.

Its simply ridiculous. It is unacceptable that patients are being "treated" with seroquel for something as relatively minor as sad.

Don't do it seroquel turned me into a drunken zombie in a day. Thankfully I was in the hospital so they discontinued it and put me back on a benzo. Fondly, Phillipa

After testing with approx. 50mg Seroquel I had some balancing problems similar being drunked.
It was pretty comical I walked into the doors, my arms were no more able to control force.
Strange experience.
