Mirtazepine (Remeron) OCD

Posted by Eric B on November 14, 2005, at 17:57:16

I have read some research that mirtazepine (remeron) might work as a treatment for OCD, I am thinking of speaking to my doctor about getting it. I have searched this board and got various results from a couple years back. Most of them speak of side effects and using it for depression. I only got some posts about OCD with little information. I figured since a couple of years has passed maybe people have more experience from it. Im wondering what remeron does specifically for OCD and what your experience of using it to treat OCD is.

Thank you for your answers

Eric

What is your experience of using remeron for OCD?

In my first post I wrote that when searching psycho babble I mainly found posts refering to side effects and depression. I was wrong, I did a better search and found a fair amount of info on using remeron for OCD.
This is the link to what I found:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=sv&sitesearch=dr-bob.org&q=intitle%3Aremeron+OCD&btnG=S%C3%B6k&lr=
Also I found info on the use of remeron for sleepin disorders and social phobia and more.
I writing this in case my first post disencouraged someone from searching the site themselves.

I have a few days left before I´m going to my doctor. I´m not sure if I should ask for remeron or something else. I would very much appriciate if someone could give me any advice on the use of remeron for OCD (both on it´s own and for augmentation aswell).

Yours sincerely

Eric
