Wellbutrin XL and weighloss... same as SR?

Posted by april8 on July 13, 2005, at 13:07:42

Hi there, I talked to my doc today about maybe switching to Wellbutrin XL from SR just to make dosing easier. How-ever SR has made me lose some weight which I am really happy about after gaining so much on Paxil a couple of years ago.

Does XL have this same effect? Does anyone have any experiences with XL and SR in terms of this?
Thanks so much!
April

I have switched from 300XL (made me sleepy) to 200SR. I think they both work to take away your appetite. Plus, I'm taking 75mg of Effexor. The Effexor and Wellbutrin together totally take away my appetite. I've lost about 8 pounds so far.

I think it will work for you just fine.

I was on 450mg of WB XL for many many months.. maybe 1-2 years.

It totally killed my appetite. I never ate right with it, so for me, this probably wasn't a great thing. I only eat 1-2 meals a day. Usually just 1.
