Id imagine it could be from a lot of things....if your not bad off here and not taking a lot of meds you might want to look into a group called SMART DRUGS % NUTRIENTS a group all about the use of certain over the counter herbs, drugs, and nutrients to enhance cognitive functions and memory.

If your mental state is bad offf id guess right off the bat your condition whether it be depression anxiety etc, your med etc are the main factors,i know my thinking pattern has never been the same since i got ill,i dont suspect it to ever return either hopefuilly i can just slow down its deteration.

I'm not sure what's causes it. I've blamed my memory problems on benzos like klonopin, various antidepressants, or depression itself..
(and God forbid, age).

One supplement that has helped me with memory and cognitive ability is phosphatidylserine. I've only used it for a few days at a time though...it seems to perk up the brain a bit. There are numerous other smart drugs and supplements you could look into.

My old pdoc actually wanted to give me Aricef for Alzheimers to see if that helped. Of course I said no. Fondly, Phillipa

I thought I'd add my two cents. Although I don't know if you are on any meds, or what they are, my sister experienced severe memory problems while on Lithium. Also, is this a new problem? Many people are simply wired biologically with weaker memory systems than others- this is hereditary. And, Alzheimer's aside, memory loss is simply a natural and unfortunate part of the aging process.
Besides keeping lists and sticking post-its as reminders and keeping a journal, I have no idea what can be done to help?
For what its worth,
Zanzibar

Are you taking Benzodiazepines of any kind? That does it.

Sometimes SSRI's can as well.

I totally relate but I have no answers. One time I took an old anti-psychotic called loxitane and I honestly couldn't remember long enough to take notes in my college classes. I think it effects me socially. I can't carry on long conversations because I forget what I may have said. Good Luck. River.
