Maxime, are you okay?

Posted by MidnightBlue on April 23, 2005, at 20:45:57

Maxime,

Are you okay? The last we heard you had an appointment with a psychopharmacologist to discuss adjusting your meds. You were hopeful and even a bit excited. From one post you made after that, I got the impression that the appointment did not go well? You said you didn't want to talk about it.

I don't think you've posted since the 19th. I just wanted you to know we miss you and need you. Please post again and let us know you are okay even if you aren't feeling good. It isn't good to isolate yourself and be all alone. Sorry, but I won't let you just fall off this screen without noticing.

Hugs,

MidnightBlue

Define "okay".

I had a seizure. I'm sick, depressed and tired. I don't want to talk about my appt. with the psychopharmacologist. I just want to die.

I won't be around much, if at all. I just need to be alone.

No Maxime,

By my definition, you would not be "okay." I guess I consider someone "okay" if they are not in immediate danger of harming themselves or are not acutely ill. For me at least, "okay" never equals well.

I had hoped you were not posting because you were in the hospital. I'm very sorry you had a seizure. Did you at least receive adequate medical attention for that?

I know you are sick, and tired, and depressed, and I'm sorry if I sometimes say the wrong thing or upset you. I just really care about you and know that even though you THINK you want to be all alone, you really don't want to be.

I wish I had some magic words I could say to make you better, or better yet a magic pill to suddenly make you well. But I don't, so I will continue to pray for you and I'll try to be here to give you hugs.

Hugs,
MidnightBlue

Hey Maxime

Things must be going really badly for you. Try to take extra good care of yourself now. You don't have to talk about anything you don't want. We will be here for you whenever you feel like talking. You can babblemail me and I promise I'll be real with you. I never gossip.

I don't know what to do. I've been given Strattera to try and I was looking at past posts about this med and I am scared to take it.

I don't want to get into my appt. with the psychopharmacologist but basically he looked at my 6 page spreadsheet of meds and combos tried and he only suggested two things. Strattera and ECT. That's it. He said he never seen anyone try so many different meds and combos before.

I'm never going to have ECT no matter what anyone says. Never.

So now I have Strattera and that's it. I'm scared it's going to knock me out. I'm already so tired that I can't afford to have that happen. It seems like more people experienced tiredness than anything else on this med.

My pdoc says he thinks I suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome because I get sudden onset viral infections a lot and my muscles ache and I get a slight fever.

Personally I think I have candida. I took Diflucan a couple of weeks ago for a yeast infection and I felt a little better for a couple of days. Less exhausted. Now the damn thing is back!

I can't do this!

Maxime

I have the most messed up biochemistry possible.

Maxime, Well at least you're back. I can see why you went underground. But there could be something to the chronic fatigue thing. Get an ANA done. They said I had it too. I just chose to forget it. Sick of being sick. Easier to think it was mental. I'll have to look up Strattera as I don't know anything about it. The ECT, I'm sure you've been following the Threads and there were some positive and negative posts on it. They said problems went away with unilaterl ECt. I care and have missed you. Hopefully the Board can help you with decisions. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi Maxime,
I was in a bit of a mess, went to a dr who does nutritional medicine, and part of what he had to say was that I had bowel dysbiosis, for which he rxd nyastatin and probiotics. I took a low dose of both for a year or so and didn't eat any sugars. Helped a bit.

I don't know what an ANA is. Plus in Canada you don't just get things done. You beg. You plead.

I haven't been following any threads. I haven't been here. I am too tired. But no matter what ... no ECT. I can't read the board right now. And who knows what the Strattera will do.

My pdoc is gone for a month now. I don't even care.

(((Maxime)))

I am so sorry that your struggle continues. My heart truly does go out to you. I know you had been thinking about naturopathy, and maybe, if you can swing it financially (even if it means borrowing some money from a family member) you should give it a shot. I was speaking to a naturopath the other day (I, too, am interested in seeing a naturopathic doctor), about the diagnostic tools he uses. Anyway, this particular naturopath uses saliva testing (analysis done by Great Smokies in the U.s.) and, interestingly, he told me that he can also request blood tests, including a FULL thyroid panel. He requisitions the blood work, and the patient pays, since it would not be covered by the provincial health care plan. Anyway, if you are interested in perhaps calling a few to see what diagnositic tools they use, here is a weblink for naturopaths in Quebec (from the Canadian Association of Naturopaths).

http://www.naturopathicassoc.ca/quedr.html

As for the yeast infections, in a book I have ("The Diet Cure"), there is an anti-yeast protocol suggested as follows:

Upon rising: 2 capsules of a combination of good bacteria - lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus, on an empty stomach (to restore and maintain normal intestinal flora - the good bacteria).

With meals:
1 to 2 capsules of grapefruit seed extract (kills yeast but is nontoxic to humans);
1 capsule of biotin (1,000 mcg) (bioton, apparently helps stop sugar cravings and has a surprisingly inhibitory effect on yeasts);
2 capsules or a small clove of garlic (garlic inhibits microbes of all kinds, including yeasts and parasites); and
oregano oil (good against a wide range of fungi and yeasts and has antiparsitic properties)

All the supplements would likely be available at any health food store or could be ordered from a health food store in the net. I use a number of good Canadian on-line stores, and the prices are very reasonable and delivery is quick.

Anytime: drink pau d'arco (apparently comes in tea form and is a South American herb that contains 3 anti-yeast compounds that are active against Candida albicans and fungi) and ginger tea (inhibits both fungus and yeast while promoting the growth of friendly bacteria, plus it is yummy and really good for nausea and indigestion)

Anyway, please do take care of yourself. My thoughts are with you.

Tamara

Thanks for the information Tamara. There is no way I can afford any of the things you suggested. There is no way anyone is my family will lend ME money. I'm already in debt as it is.

I feel like I am in hole that I am never going to get out of.
