I AM going to keep taking my medication

Posted by alexandra_k on April 21, 2005, at 3:22:25

Yup
Yup
Yup.

The Dr tried putting my Seroquel up from 50mg to 100mg. Half an hour later and I was nodding and drooling on the couch. Not a good look. Sleeping in till 11am. I don't know what is up with me. I used to have a much higher tolerance for meds. Used to be on 250mg 2X a day and still needed two Imovane to get off to sleep. But not any more. Not any more. Back on 50mg now - half an hour before bed and thats all I can tolerate. Seroquel to make me sleep, Effexor to wake me up. Sigh. But it is worth a try, right? Sometimes ANYTHING ANYTHING is worth a try. I know it won't FIX me, but if it helps a teeny tiny bit then I suppose it is worth it.

Please nag me if I change my mind on this.
I MUST TAKE MY MEDS.
Really.
Sigh.

To just lie there with my eyes closed and doze...
It is hard waking up
And even harder getting up in the morning.
I can't wait to go to bed in the evening.
Depression?
Or sedation?
????

on wellbutrinXL, ritalin, inderol, xanax and zyprexa.
it's the zyprexa i struggle taking...i want to eat all the time and i hate eating...i feel like a huge ball of sickening matter. i've gained 12 lbs. what's wierd is i was on this before when i weighed about 40lbs higher and i didn't gain any weight. since i lost all that weight now that i'm back on it again i have gained weight. that sucks, plus i'm groggy and don't have the energy to exercise like i used to.

but the last time i went off the zyprexa i got really wigged out. so while i'm lucid and on it i can continue to take it...if i miss even one, i like being off it until it's too late. just can't afford to go back to the hosptital again.
what about you?
best wishes
b2c.

but i had to respond cuz that's exactly what i'm starting to wonder about.

Well I have felt this way for a few weeks only I can't sleep and have horrible nightmares. I think mine is depression and anxiety. I just can't find any meds that help. Fondly, Phillipa

Effexor and Seroquel.

I used to take Seroquel and Epilum. I gained a LOT of weight on Epilum. Really. Stacks of it. When I stopped taking it it just melted away. I hate it how medications do that.

Alexandra what is that med you mentioned? It must not be available in the US. So, you're still tired? Fondly, Phillipa

Which med?
I think we get fairly much the same meds, but tend to call them by a different name. I have enough trouble remembering one of the names without remembering the other too...

Did you mean epilim? I think that is how you spell it. Epilim and tegretol are two of the main mood stabalisers (aside from lithium).

Yeah. Still tired. Am thinking it may have a bit to do with my being on holiday. Will try and MAKE myself get up at a reasonable hour and go to work and do something tomorrow. Have just been sleeping and babbling and playing sim city for about 5 days now...

Yup that's the one. Why not stay home another week? Then again my old pdoc told me to go on disability and it's turned into 8yrs. Was talking to Greg about this today. If only I had gone right back to work. Fondly, Phillipa

Well... I sorta can. We have this week off too. But I need to get up to date with what I have missed (I missed a week) so I am prepared for my tuts first week back.

In theory I should also be writing my Masters. That is going to turn into a last minute frantic effort I can tell that already. I know this is terrible but I really don't care if I don't even get it done at this point.

I don't know.

I'll take it easy - but I have to start getting into it again.

Alexandra, I'm glad you have another week off. Maybe you can do a little more each day. Give yourself time for that nap everyday. Remember you're probably still adjusting to being back on meds, either the same or different. Don't push it like I always do. Fondly,, Phillipa
