I think I have figured me out.. LOL

Posted by Spriggy on April 9, 2005, at 16:31:07

When I take things for anxiety (benzo's, now this Seroquel), it then creates me to suffer from either: Depression or Depersonalization/derealization.

So to treat the anxiety and calm me down, it almost brings me TOO down.

I almost feel like I need something to give me a bit of a LIFT but not enough lift to make me anxious.

Is there a balance? Do I really have to chose to either be depressed or completely anxious??

Spriggy, I think you will have to be patient. Wait until your thryoid has been treated and then see where you stand. Until then do whatever it takes to stay as balanced as possible.

Have you tried a beta blocker for the anxiety? It might be something to try because it won't bring you down. It will lower your blood pressure. I think Inderal is often used but you would have to check with your doctor.

I agree with Maxime. You're starting to jump from med to med with your medical condition still left undiagnosed and untreated. Fondly, Phillipa

Hopefully Wednesday will bring about more answers.
I haven't tried a beta blocker but I don't have any problems with my blood pressure. My blood pressure actually is always in the low/normal range.

One time (when my dad nearly died) in the ER, they checked it and it was super high but it simply due to the state of anxiety I was in due to the circumstances.

Other than that, blood pressure is good.

On another note, my hubby wants me to stay off the Seroquel until the Endo sees me. He (hubby) thinks it is making my depression worse.

*sigh*

Hi Spriggy when I go down I get anxious. I can feel confident when I'm awake and busy, with people etc. But if I dose off in the day I descend into a layer of clogged up dread etc. I find I need to be lifted out of anxiety. So for me anxiety is a low, slow thing, a kind of nameless dread, not a high jittery thing.

BTW your "claustrophobia in the universe" rang true to me. 41 years ago when I first suffered anxiety and depression I kept describing it to myself as "claustrophobia of Life". I hope you're feeling better
Fred
