Dread ..grim feelings again :(

Posted by Slinky on April 6, 2005, at 12:07:29

Hi

I've been taking 400mg tegretol daily...for about 3 weeks.
It made me sleepy/foggy but the dread suicidal stuff seemed to dissipate .
Alas the crap has returned again from nowhere.
Does this mean I may need an increase that it hasn't reached a theraputic level.
What a bummer.
Reality is scaring me..claustrophopic in the universe. Just want escapism.
I'm spending all day with thoughts of how to do the deed again.
Guess I need some friendly advice or even just an hello.
I'm my own worst enemy.

A miserable slinky.

Pls call your doctor now! Slinky

Hello!

Well I don't think that Tegretol has any antipressant action but maybe I am wrong. I know it's mood stabiliser. So maybe you started to feel good on your own and now you are crashing again.

I think you should call your doctor. You should be on an anti-depressant. Are you?

Hang in there and call your doctor.

Okay?

Maxime

Hi Slinky, I think you're going through some cycling. I had a relatively nasty dip last week for a couple of days and then it passed. My cycles average about three weeks, maybe yours are similar? If so, if you wait a few more days it might go away on its own. Hope you get to feeling better-- Mitch

Hey Slinky, sorry to hear your feeling so bad

I think Maxine may have a point, I've never heard of Tegetrol being used as an AD.

It doesn't sound like its right for you, wish there was something I could suggest to make you feel better.

If you did go you would be missed

Hi Slinky. I'm sorry you're feeling so badly. I agree with Maxime and I also think I would call your pdoc. Waiting for something to pass is something I'm not good at. Please don't hurt yourself. Fondly, Phillipa

Slinky dear,
Please promise to get help if those thoughts don't go away. Sar's death is still fresh to some of us. Contrary to her belief---there's nothing romantic or noble about it. You are loved by many my friend--I'm one of them. Let me know how things are going--please.

Slinky by the sounds of it your NHS Pdoc is not up to much.
If I remeber correctly apparently he would not let you try an MAOI, which seems completely absured.

My current NHS doc said I could try Nardil and he bairly knows me.
Is it possible for you to go privately.

Hi everyone..

Thanks for your posts.

I still take paroxetine though it only helps only with anxiety.
Yesterday I had extra Neurontin - I do this sometimes and I find it knocks me out to sleep and stupidly took one 50mg sertraline -- not sure if this was wise as my stomache is tender...but it was the only med that made me feel comfortable on waking but that was over 7 years ago...this morning was a bit trippy.
My pdoc is clueless with me..going private can be an alternative if I knew someone who has been helped by one...
I don't want to die yet but the pain can get so unbearable even though I know it will pass...it plays tricks with my head.
Sorry I haven't replied individually..each post means a lot to me.
Thanks
Slinky

Surrey?
If anyone knows..I think that the same pdocs who work in NHS do also the private work.
There are only 3 pdocs in Surrey dealing with 3 different areas of Surrey.
I'd have to move to see a different one and I've seen 2 of the 3

Slinky, I just wanted to say "HELLO!" and I hope that you are feeling a little better today. Just know that someone in Montreal, Quebec is thinking of you and hoping that you find some relief even if only for a few moments today.

Hugs,

Hi Slinky,

I would also like to go to a private pdoc. Do you have any idea how to find a list of private pdocs in each part of the UK? I don't know how to find the right pdoc for me!

Hi Slinky,

This website can help you find psychiatrists who specialise in your illness...........

http://www.specialistinfo.com/directory.php

It costs 2.99 (for 2 hours) to get the full information. You can find pdocs in your area and you can see what they specialise in. You can find out whether they do private work or NHS.

I wonder if my pdoc has colleagues in the UK. Hed know of ones that would be quite the liberals when prescribing meds. He is a PhD as well as MD, travels to conferences quite a bit...
Oh well, probably not, but I can always ask, no harm in that.

Hi Slinky,

http://www.specialistinfo.com/directory.php

If you click on 'Special Interests within Specialty' you can choose 'psychiatry'. Then you can click on your illness. For example, bipolar disorder.........

Here is a list of the pdocs that specialise in bipolar disorder..........

http://www.specialistinfo.com/siget.php?path=sispec/__S3PSYCbipolar

Grrr! You have to subscribe to see their names and get the full information. I haven't subscribed yet but I probably will.

PDocs in the South East of England........

http://www.specialistinfo.com/siget.php?path=rrsi/SEpsychiatry

Consultants specialising in bipolar disorder in the South East.......... (you do have bipolar disorder don't you Slinky?)

http://www.specialistinfo.com/siget.php?path=rrsi/SEbipolar

I'm afraid you have to pay 2.99 to see their names etc.

You can pay here........

http://www.specialistinfo.com/directory.php

Click on 'Registration' and fill in the info, you can say that you are a 'potential patient' as your profession!

Of course!

Reminds me I have to make sure I know when the next appt is scheduled....

So the pdocs wont let you access their lists without an up-front fee scam. Sneaky little buggers I say.

I hear you on the thoughts of dread.
I get them a decent amount of the time and they drive me insane. It shouldn't be this hard just to continue living.

I had a rough review at work, no raise, no bonus (when *everyone* else got both), so I feel sorry for myself now. Like a failure. I dread going to this job even more now. I already dreaded going into work (even though in reality, work isn't that bad) and it's even worse now.

My boss is probably going to call me in for another "talk". I'm totally NOT interested in hearing about how much I failed again.

Life SO isn't fair.
