Effexor XR Bead Size

Posted by gadman on April 5, 2005, at 11:33:10

Hi... I hope all is well.

Can anyone tell me if each bead in E XR contain the same amount of medicine? That is what I am counting on, As I am reducing my doseage.

I know the bead count in a 37.5 mg is 105 beads, but I want to make sure I am getting the same amount of medicine each day. I know release period may differ, but...

Let me know what you think,

I wondered similar thoughts when I was taking small doses of Effexor every day. The bead size is rather inconsistent, but the number of beads per cap tends to be very close. That leads me to think that there is the same quantity of venlafaxine in *each* bead, but that the process of waxy coating is inconsistent resulting in the differing bead sizes. That would lead one to conclude that small beads release quicker than larger ones. I just grouped an "average" group of the same number, but with various sizes comprising each group every time I took a dose.

Thanks Ritch... Yes, I was thinking the same exact thing. At least that is what I am banking on :-)
