Why does adderall make feel apathy

Posted by mmcconathy on March 22, 2005, at 14:47:48

I took it about 45 min ago, 40mg.

When i am like this i dont feel i need to show anger, well expressions. They are suppressed, i am just sitting here with a "plain" stare, i dont like it.

I feel stable, but i dont like being "blocked out". Its a very complicated to explain.

I want to apologize for my stupid behavior on these posts, i try to get out my anger, well frustration, and frankly people dont want to hear it.

Anyways, i researched some, i read that psychostimulants cause dopamine "resting" synapses, dopamine is released at first then settled. This slowing makes all my emotions, everything slow down, moving, talking, everything.

I have taken high doses, 60mg they produce less apathy, more attetnion, but horrible side effects, INSOMNIA! emotional instability for no reason, not rational.

Do you mind telling me what you think

How does it make you apathetic, it's suppose to counter act apathy and make you more motivated and more willing to do things.. I don't get how you would become apathetic due to Adderal since it usually has the complete opposite effect..(unless your talking about when it wears off,, then I understand)

I thought you said you quit adderall.. now your starting back up.. and saying it's making you apathetic, yet before it almost seemed you were addicted to it.. I don't understand at all..

I still am PRESCRIBED adderall 40mg, daily.

But i try not to take it to see what will happen, if i can do work without it, if i can adapt natraully. But i give alot...

That is why i say i try to quit.

Adderall (AMPHETAMINE!!!) is suppost to make people motivated, been used in wars, and offices, and schools since Benzedrine was marketed in 1937.

I dont know why it doenst do this to me, low doses make me apathetic, i do work but i am "zonked".

Well i dont recognized you from my older posts, but for a while i was on 60mg daily, 30mg 2 X daily, not effective, my psychiatrist strictly monitered me when we started treatment with 60mg at once in the morning, but it made me have bad irritiblity after it danm wore off, long term it wore me down, and i STOPPED!

I told my doc, we moved back down to 40mg, then 30mg, but then back up 40mg, thats the bearly effective dose without the bad side effects.

Chronic amphetmaine intake, after time depletes, nuerotoxity to dopamine repecptors, i was SCREAMED that i damaged them bad. I just stopped becuase i was freaked. Took fish oils and B-vitmans like candy.

Anyways, as you know that drug abuse is imprintedon my forehead, yes i know, just one more...

but i realize what happens after time.

I want to really get off adderall, and live normal,

i feel bad that i stated that i know i will do fine, i stopped it superturkey, disorientation, and confusion happened, work deteriated rapidly. Went back, it makes me feel horrible, like right now. When it wears off i usally am not apathetic, back to my old screaming self.

I havent seen you much around dude, are you new?

and are 13? <<mike13>>

Later man

some people do describe apathy and such with the stimulants...I take 60mgs Adderall/daily myself, and I've found that I'm not apathetic so much as I am better focused, so my emotions are better controlled...if that makes sense, anyway. I really don't know what to tell you...the 1st thing to do is make sure it is, in fact, *only* the Adderall that's doing this. If you're having other problems, it becomes easy to attribute certain problems to meds (especially psychiatric meds). I've done it. The only way to know absolutely for sure would be to do a gradual elimination of the Adderall and then see how you do without it. I think the suggested adderall/dexedrine taper is 10-15mgs every 3 days or something like that.

Im 18, but if you were concerned what it was doing to your brain, then why do you keep taking it, especially when it's causing all these adverse effects.. why don't you try something else.. (ritalin??) It seems' you've been on adderal for such a LONG time with very little success, it just seems to be adding to your problems..I don't post much, but lurk alot by the way..
