Im not going to be a drunk either, thats in the drug addict catagory.

Rerember when i was raving that i was losing my mind, nad i was deteriating, afraid i was going to change, well hell, here i am, i am angry frustrated, it happned, i dont care.. if i lose my danm mind, ill go to a institution, get cured and then make somehting of myself.

Would anyone like to make a suggestion? thank you

well to be frank, screw meds, there not going to cure a frustration issue, like i said its your present awareness of reality.

Like i said, belief and determination can conquer things.

I have lost my mind. Be back soon.

Matt, depression and anxiety can produce symptoms that you can't believe they would - like anger. In my worst depression, I felt more angry and frustrated than anything else.
I have read through many of your posts and can see that you are doing a lot of searching and trying many different meds, theories, beliefs, etc.

Please do not discount medications as a possible part of the solution to your problems. It's important, however, that you stay on one long enough for the benefits to be felt. For me - whose body and mind are slow learners - it means several weeks before I know whether a med is working for me or not.

concerned for you,
partlycloudy

I've seen lithium work wonders for pts in the hospital who were really angry and were drinking as self-medication. Fondly, Phillipa

Zoloft worked for my (now) 17yr old son. His problem started when he was about 14. Social anxiety, unreasoning, unfounded anger, paranoia etc. He also takes Zyprexa but the 75mg (dosage with Zoloft) is very critical. 50 mg just made him drowsy, 100 mg made him high and too far out.
You need to take it 6 weeks to 3months or more before all the beneficial effects are realized.

Another poster mentioned Zyprexa, and I, too, think that may be a very good med to add to whatever AD you are on. A friend of mine had been going through a very agitated depression with lots of anger and angry outbursts and has since been put on Zyprexa. She has said she is feeling much better and calmer now and the anger has subsided.

And Matthew I think you need to find an outlet for the pent up energy and agitation. When you feel strong enough can you look into some kind of physical activity - perhaps, as GG suggested I think, karate or something like that. You might even want to just start with going jogging.

Please take care of yourself Matthew, and get the help you need. My thoughts are with you.

Tamara

I am already talking to my psychiatrist about Zyprexa, where going to start with 10mg

I was on alot of riduculous samples of Respirdal that worked ok... but i didnt like the apathic feeling.

I have never been on an SSRI, well i was on Cymbalta (SNRI) for a while, 30mg daily for about 2 months, it did seem to give a lift.... but it caused agitation i cant explain, also insomnia.

Thorazine would be nice.

Anyways,
Zoloft i took for about 3 weeks in samples a year ago, i dont know, around sept 2004. Stopped it becuase i was having problems with attention.

Adderall ironically would seem to impend a rage, since its amphetmaine class, when i take it, i feel "suppressed", i dont distrupt well express emotion, i feel orderly.

I took Adderall 40mg about 45min, i feel apathetic, i really do not like this. Anyway thanks for all suggestions.

This post feels more structured and stable, unlike my crazy chaotic repelling posts i put because i try express anger, emotion in the post, inappropriate.

Thanks

Matt

Why would you like to try Thorazine?

Hi:
I recall VERY well you'd like to get 'Zyprexa' for a number of reasons, ... one of which you finally did pin-point and working VERY hard to get your 'old-self.' For that, I feel you have tremendously progressed emotionally and psychologically since you came to this board.

However, one thing I need to suggest is that Zyprexa 10 mg. as a starter dosage is a REALLY 'mass dosage.' The 5 mg., even a tiniest pill, 2.5 mg. is enough for you to experiment whether the Zyprexa is actually for you. Because, the higher/mass dosage often causes 'depression,' due to sedating property the Zyprexa produces, that I got before hitting a right dosage, 5 mg./recommended dosage. More than 5 mg. is said to be for Shizo. or any other 'more' serious form of mental disorder.

In my suggestion, ... try to ask your pdoc. for a sample pack of the Zyprexa. Normally, he/she keeps those in his/her closet, from 5 mg. to 20 mg. Then, you're NOT able to get a tiniest pill, 2.5 mg., but you could cut one pill in a half by using a 'pill-cutter' found in any grocery stores(if you're in the US). From there, you can move up to the dosage you need.

You sound like one of 'smart' and 'nice' teenagers I see anywhere in the US, ... but because of your condition, you've been in 'tough' spot as reading your numerous posts on this board.
H.G.

Hi.

Actually, that might not be a bad dosage to start at, given the intensity of what's going on. In my experience, 10mg has not been such a massive dosage. I wouldn't recommend starting at 20mg, though. I think that 5.0mg should be the minimum.

Just my 2¢

Hi Matt,

LOL- you like the idea of extreme drugs don't you?

If you do try Thorazine, try a LOW dose eg. 10mg three times a day, OK?

Ed.

Matt, maybe your chemistry is changing now that you are leaving adolescense behind. Maybe the meds that worked for you before won't now, and you'll have to find a new one that does. Just a thought. Fondly, Phillipa

hi matt.

i only drop in very periodically, so i am not familiar with your diagnosis. please bear that in mind.

i have an agitated depression that for 10 yrs. was mis-diagnosed as various forms of bipolar illness, which seems to be the opposite of what "usually" happens. anyway, a large component of my depression is anger. i find prozac the best for anger. it is still considered the gold standard ad, after all these yrs. and lo these many "improved" ads, by many professionals. i only need a low dose of 5-10 mg/ day.

if, however, you have a borderline personality disorder diagnosis (i do not), i do think prozac, titrating slowly up to 60-80 mg/ day would be VERY helpful....for anger/ rage. perhaps if you have another cluster b personality disorder dx, it would still be worth a shot(?) i strongly suggest no klonopin or other benzo - ever.

of course, if you have bipolar, instead of or in conjunction to, you likely need a mood stabilizer on board, also. this cannot be stressed enough. trileptal was mentioned and many docs are using it with success in my area.

lastly, many above have recommended the ap zyprexa. imo, the prozac - zyprexa combo (or the combo pill) may be well worth considering.

i admire your tenacity. i do know how frustrating this med/s game can too often be.
