Seems I came across a thread awhile back where a gentleman had developed a protocol for preventing adderall poop-out. Anyone remember this thread or the protocol? Any other suggestions for prventing this? Thanks

I found that adding 1,500mg. of the amino acid L-Phenylalanine twice a day helped

i don't know about supplements, but i'd like to know, too. the only thing i know that works is to take an adderall holiday, even as short as a weekend. just a few days off the drug makes it work better for me. of course, i'm usually tired and lethargic on the days off.

The only drug I've found that addresses the Adderall-tolerance problem is called Namenda, which is typically prescribed to people with Alzheimer's. I have to take a fairly high dosage (40 mg) about 15-30 minutes before taking any Adderall. It seems to slow down the development of Adderall tolerance and slightly enhance its effects.
Namenda is expensive, but is definitely better than taking Adderall alone.

I take namenda as well. Are you on 40 of adderall or 40 of namenda? I started the namenda before taking the adderall so i don't know if it has any sort of preventative "poop out" affect for me. I take 10 of namenda in the morning and 50 adderallxr in the morning and 30 in the afternoon and cognitive problems still persist.perhaps increasing the namenda would help although i remember having to inicially DECREASE the namenda because of cognitive problems brought on by that drug when i was on a higher dose. It's all so overwhelming and i don't know what the next step is.The drugs i'm taking now are Namenda(10),Aricept(5) zoloft(100) Adderall(50am30pm) Zyprexa(5) SAM-E(1600), and if anybody has any suggestions PLEASE respond, i need all the help i can get

I found that when I took 10-20 mg of Namenda, it didn't affect the Adderall tolerance. But then, one day, I took 40 mg, and the effect was noticable. For me it works better if I take the Namenda about 30 minutes before taking the Adderall.
It may be that you're not taking enough Namenda. But if it causes negative side-effects, it may not be an option.
This is the end of the thread.
