Gabitril for Depression?

Posted by awatts on March 21, 2005, at 22:38:54

Has anyone tried Gabitril (either alone or augmenting something else) to treat depression or lack of motivation?

hey! I've taken gabitril and neurontin (as boosters for Klonopin+propranolol) for anxiety, not depression, although I was also taking a mood-stabilizer and anti-depressant at the time. Anyway, neither of these meds did all that much for me, really, although they did make me feel really, really stupid.

I agree very weird medications, sometimes effective for a split second, never over the long run. They seem to be good if u wanna get stoned, not very therputic.

GHB its a shame this drug is so constricted,in mini mg doses it is a great add on,muscle relaxition, social enhancement, and it is ehances protein synhtesis for energy.

At small doses with a med it will NOT make u high, instead is a more natural relaxant thats a down right shame is not avaialble.

And that its not, illegal in every country, script med here tightly controlled for narcolpeys under the name xyrem.I say this before anyone understandable asks, xyrem is the ONLY legal and avaialable form of it,expensive, and not used off label.A crime.

I'm with you on that one--when the FDA/DEA *rarely* decide to make a somewhat controversial substance available, they make it expensive and difficult to obtain...look at THC. Pot itself is still very much a Schedule I substance, except in California (the DEA is trying to change that, too). Still, Marinol is RX'd for all some things--primarily nausea and to stimulate appetite in the severely ill--as a super-expensive, schedule III substance. True story: a guy I knew had advanced HIV and was RX'd a tiny amount of marinol to help him out. The other drug they used for nausea? THORAZINE. So I wondered, and I wonder now, if the gov't cares so much about the sick (physically AND mentally ill), what's up with cases like this? To me, its an unacceptable form of cruelty.
