What is severe anxiety???

Posted by ed_uk on March 20, 2005, at 14:18:08

Anxiety is.....

Torture: extreme, intense, debilitating.

Overwhelming dread and panic, you're drowning, there's nothing you can do.

You're helpless, utterly helpless, paralysed.

There is no way out, you know it will last forever, there is no relief.

The world around you disappears, you're a prisoner, trapped within your own thoughts. No one can help you.

Fear. It fills the mind, it fills the day, there is no escape, no where you can go, no refuge.

Day after day it continues, year after year, forever? Diazepam: did it take the edge off? You're not sure, how can you endure?

A parasite. Anxiety propagates itself, it needs no help. Panic fuels panic, you'll never be the same - when will it happen again? What if, what if, what if.........

This is anxiety.

Hi Sabre!

How are you doing? Have you recovered from the reboxetine?

Best regards,
Ed.

Trust me.. I've been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt.

Everything you described Ed, was me on Lexapro.

I never knew what "anxiety" truly was (okay except maybe in childbirth!) until those horrific 6 weeks.

Not fair, Ed. You have to answer my question first!!

I'm back to square one now. The Reboxetine is just a bad memory. I just feel like drugs seem to bring additional problems rather than improving the situation (other than Propranolol).

Maybe I'll just hone my avoidance skills for a while as I work out what to do next.

How's the exercise going, Ed?

Hi S!!

>Not fair, Ed. You have to answer my question first!!

Oops sorry! I haven't started exercising yet. Walking is hard enough atm!

>I'm back to square one now.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you'll post if/when you're thinking of trying something else!

Regards,
Ed.
