Amisulpride - Advice/Experience needed

Posted by cliffstone on March 16, 2005, at 10:09:03

Hi, I started taking 25 mg amisulpride almost 3 weeks ago for anhedonia, lack of motivation and social anxiety. I responded immediately but after two days it pooped out. Iīve heard that happens and after a few weeks the ami slowly starts to work again.

I wonder if anybody had similar experiences and how long it took for the ami to actually kick in. Also I am interested in knowing what doses have been successful for treating anhedonia.

Thanks in advance.

If you're in the U.S. please tell me where you are getting Amisulpride. I wanted to try my own trial, and I called the main offices of Sanofi-Aventis in New York and the UK. The UK office told me that a special arrangement might be able to be made with my doctor, and the U.S. office told me that Amisulpride was not going to be released any time soon. My doctor doesn't seem to be too gung-ho about me trying foreign medicines, so I doubt he will go for this. But, hey I guess I could do my own trial if I was able to obtain Amisulpride through other channels.

Hi Tom

I live in Mexico and here you get Amisulpride (Solian)over the counter. Since you need only 25 - 50 mgs for depressive symptoms, one pack gets you pretty far. I donīt know were you live but it might be worth the trip.

I think Ami has an extremely high potential whereas conventional ADīs never did anything for me. When it works it whipes out depression, lack of motivation, fatigue etc. My main symptom is anhedonia and it initially worked extremely well then faded. But according to what Iīve read thatīs normal and it starts to kick in slowly again after 3 - 4 weeks.

Saludos and Good Luck

I've tried Amisulpride several times. Doses ranged from 12.5mg per day to 50mg per day. There was fantastic improvement the first day, which then faded. But after 3 or 4 weeks the goodness came back little by little. It helped me most in terms of motivation and social composedness. Sexual side effects though were too crippling for me...absolutely no desire at all.

Hi to every,
I'm interested in learning more about your amisulpride trial.
My Ami experience was extraordinary:
I experienced lot of times a great energy and good feelings the first day i took amisulpride. Then the right effect faded and i was somnolenced and tired. Never went over a week of amisulpride trial, cause didn't report any good effect (only tiredness).
Now i know that parhaps i should to go on for at least 3 or 4 week, when right effects could reappear.
Did you experience somnolence and dizzyness after few day of amisulpride too?
thanx for your share and apologize for my awful English!

Hi everyone

I experienced the usual initial boost at 25 mg which then faded after a day or so. In week three of my current trial I felt it working again for a day . and then again nothing. Iīm about to complete a 4-weeks trial and donīt know if I should try any longer.

Sexual side effects are indeed significant. Also no desire at all although that may be countyeracted by the D2 recepotor agonist Cabergoline.

Good luck

Hi Neo

I didnīt experience somnolence. 25 to 50 mg seems to be the appropriate dose. Once it kicks in somnolence shouldņīt be a problem.

I read on the board that amisulpride and Prozac are supposed to be a miracalous combo. I might continue the amisulpride and add Prozac in order to achieve a result.

Amisulpride+Prozac combo? any experience?

Yes, it could be a good stimulating combo!
I suppose that you must use low dosage of both two.
Never heard experience of trial of Amisulpride + Prozac: could anyone share trial experience?
1000Thanx!

You mean over the counter like aspirin? Can you tell me how much you are paying and how much is contained in one pack? Arghh, I've looked all over for it when apparently I could just drive a couple of hours and get some.

Thanks
Rick

Hi Rick

I bought it at two different pharmacies just like Aspirin without presription but Mexico is a weird country and you may encounter pharmacies that require a prescription. But generally I think it shouldnīt be a problem. I think they sell it in packs of 14 and 28 pills of 200 mg each. As far as I remember the 14 pills pack cost around 40 USD. But that gets you pretty far. So if you donīt live too far from the border I would definitely give it a shot. I definitely know that they sell Mirapex over the counter if that is of any interest for you as well.

Saludos

Thank You (nm) ŧ cliffstone
