Lethal dose?

Posted by Caslon540 on February 20, 2005, at 0:25:37

Would xxx tablets of 25 mg diphenhydramine kill a person or just make them very sick? I'm too tired to look it up.

Are you planning to kill youself? Please call a hotline, a friend or go to an ER. Someone will help you.

No, xxx tabs of 25mg will not kill you. You will sleep and feel hung over and feel like a layer of fur has grown on your tongue. It's not pleasant.

If someone finds you and thinks you have taken a serious OD you will end up in the ER where you will have a tube put down your nose and liquid charcoal will be poured into your stomach. I could continue but I won't.

Please call someone now or go to the hospital. Don't take anything please.

You are not alone.

Maxime

No, I was asking because of a friend that had been talking about it who I'm concerned about. Thanks for your concern though.

Actually i think that an antihistamine such as benadryl overdose makes you bleed from the eyeballs etc.. and produces convulsions (im serious). I think that is the net-end effect.

Are you sure? Because you said you were too tired to look it up. If it was a friend you were concerned about, you would have looked it up.

So in the meantime, I am remain concerned about you.

I took xxx 25mg pills of Benadryl to sedate myself to complete another um, action. It actually had a rebound effect of making me very hyper and I could not do what I had planned. I did eventually sleep. No bleeding from any part of my body. I don't know why my liver isn't damaged by now.

I guess you do make plans and then act on them. I think maybe you should go to the Hospital. You really sound like you need professional support through this Adderal change. Remember I care! Fondly, Phillipa

Yeah, I'm sure. I was too tired because I had been going through this awful fatigue that at times (and certainly at the time I posted that) was so bad I hardly had the energy to click a mouse! Luckily I think that is passing though...

My friend had talked about doing it a few days before, but I convinced her to go to the counseling center at school the next day and to tell herself that she would at least put it off until she had talked to a therapist there (hoping the impulse to hurt herself would pass). She did and she said she felt a lot better, but I was still worrying about it.

most benedryl (tablet form) is non-drowsy and contains pseudo-ephedrine. so it'll do the opposite of making you sleepy. i was hooked on ephedrine (used to make speed, approx 10x more potent than the pseudo) for about a year...i remember at first, i felt like i was coming up on a pill (e).

i was using the stuff to stay awake nights on end, to study, work harder faster more etc. AND for "social" reasons. i was taking LOADSA the stuff and other fun things as well (great cocktail for a biplar in denial!). started getting psychotic which scared the life outta me when i found out that was a side effect of the effies so i pulled myself off them.

i dunno how much you'd hafta do in one go before your eyes started to bleed but i've had a good few xxxmg ish nights (xxx 30gm tablets give or take) on top of the 4-5+ i'd take daily. and bar the fact that my brain probably looks like swiss emmental, i'm ok. its seriously dangerous gear tho. there've been a couple of cases where pro athletes had been taking the stuff and they died of heart attacks on the field, in the gym. so by no means am i glamourising it by bringing it all up.

however, over the counter can be good fun...if benedryl (cough syrp) is anything like robitussin DM its a SUPER buzz. i was DOSED with flu last xmas ended up downing 1/2 a bottle over the evening to be on the safe side and i was floating on air...bloody hilarious. sure the vino helped as well.

this is all very supportive and helpful right?? (say yes say yes) watch as everyone goes running off buying cough medicine and sudafed, getting a buzz on..!

No, Benadryl is an antihistamine. It is use in psych wards as a sleep aid. I am sure you are thinking of cold medications.

Anyhow, I won't continue on this thread because it should probably come to an end.

Hi Maxime!

A *lot* of different products are sold under the brand name Benadryl. As you know, the most well know is the antihistamine: diphenhydramine. There are many other Benadryl products though, containing numerous different ingredients such as decongestants etc. Also, Benadryl products contain different ingredients in different countries!
