Cymbalta - Numb/Speed Feeling

Posted by gadman on January 27, 2005, at 14:57:14

Hi all... I know there are lots of Cymbalta threads, but I must start another...

I am going on week 3 of Cymbalta and must ask the vets if the numb feeling ever goes away? I have a general overall feeling of numbness (even sexually)... Is this a side effect that goes away?

Thanks

I tried Cymbalta for over 3 months, and never felt a thing! Nothing caused me to feel anything. I just started 50mg of Zoloft, and l5mg of Remeron at night along with decreasing doses of klonopin, and chloral hydrate, and added .25 of Xanax in am and .5 Xanax at night. Phillipa

Cymbalta gave me the most severe anhedonia/apathy I've ever experienced. I thank God I'm off it.

Cymbalta makes me feel normal...

never numb or speedy. I was previously on Effexor though and it always gave me a speedy scalp tingling feeling. I wouldn't give up on it yet. Go at least another two weeks to see how it goes.

Good luck!

Colleen

Thanks Colleen... Are you still on it? I was on effexor also for three years and I have to say both Cymbalta and Effexor have worked wonders for my anxiety. At this point I would have to say I felt more apathy on Effexor than Cymbalta.

Come to think of it.... Maybe I do feel apathy while on it. Maybe that is why it works well for anxiety disorders.

Helps put things in context where before everything was overamplified

over the Effexor. I have tons of energy on both meds and have had to add clonazepam for the residual anxiety.

Good Deal Colleen! The verdict is still out for me, but yesterday I had a GREAT day! Better than Effexor, and definitely better than before Effexor (Which was constant anxiety, no sleep, and depression) ! I hope they keep coming.

I switched after being on Effexor for a year, which I had to augment with Wellbutrin to get myself off the couch. The Cymbalta on its own is making me feel kind of flat, but that is better than a roller coaster, and it works better on anxiety than effexor did.

I'm cautiously optimistic after a month and a half, even if I couldn't tolerate a 90mg dosage because of high blood pressure.

Thanks for the response partlycloudy. What do you mean kinda flat? Do you think supplemented with Wellbutrin would help? Or did you specifically switch to Cymbalta to get away from that?

No, I feel flat in that I'm just kind of neutral lately. Neither happy nor sad, just a bit numb. With zero motivation to get moving, yet whereas that used to make me feel like a Loser, now I kinda don't care (which isn't much better!).

Hmmmmmm.... But you still prefer it to Effexor? I can understand what you mean by flat, I guess I was hoping that would go away (or at least mostly)

I can say, I'm having a kinda bad day today. Kinda depressed. I think that is related to my job though.

That's what I meant in my Post above. Numb, don't care, a walking zombie. Phillipa
