Hey JACJ :-)

I did not want to get into the anti-psychotics thread because I was never on them and do not know much about them. But, speaking of twitches, I had those for 8 years before the benzos believe it or not, eyelid but would spread around my body. Now though they are stronger. I believe I had an anxiety disorder of sorts before the drugs, though it was easy to live with. Now it is just blown out of proportion. Have you considered an anti-depressant?? I mean I know for many this idea is completely out of court. They say it makes benzo withdrawal worse, but I wonder how many gave it the month or so it takes to work.... I personally know people who relate to my current anxiety symptoms (I do believe a lot is residual from the benzos in my case)and they claim the ADs solved their problem, saved their necks. One guy I know has been on Lexapro two years. He was messed up bad and now is a happy and successful parent, husband, and business professional.

Paul,
Thank you for your concern and advice but there is no way in hell I am ever going back on psychotropic drugs. The drugs nearly killed me in more ways than one. They made me so very sick and I had not one good experience on them for 3 years. I was on over 13 meds in 3 years. I have tried everything.

I am trying to be objective and respective of others being on drugs in this forum. I am very against psychotropic drugs. I find psychiatry unscientific in many ways. I know that these drugs make alot of people's lives wonderful and that is great but I have have some friend's who have lost their lives to these drugs and I am not talking about death.

Again, thanks for trying to help. That is nice of you to reach out. I am learning too about these drugs. In fact, I am going back to school to get my grad degree in pharmacology/physiology. I am specializing in drug in studying the action and side effects of dopaminergic agents and movement disorders. I start school next year.

I hope that I am reading your email right. I due have some cog fog I am dealing with. Take care.

JACJ

It is cool. You gave me your honest opinion and that is what I wanted. What does "psychotropic" mean exactly? Does this relate to type of action the drug has on the brain? What are some drugs that are not "psychotropic." I am just curious, thanks if you have the time.

Hey if ADs did not help you then you are not alone, read many like accounts. Myself, as we know, it can take a long time to get past benzo withdrawal and if there is a med that would get me functional (not cured) in a month I`d like it.

Thank you for respecting my decision. I do belong to some other forums and it is hard to be in the middle of the road. Usually people are extreme on either side. I was very extreme but have soften a bit. ;)

Psychotropic means affecting the mind or mood or other mental processes. That is what psychiatric drugs do. Take care and I hope you are feeling well. I will beasking alot of questions b/c I am relatively new and don't many of you.

Hey JACJ thanks for the quick answer.

I am confused about med therapy. Guess you can tell... I cannot successfully take benzos though. That is for sure.

I feel okay tonight. Hope you do as well. This morning was bad. Waking up from sleep are my worst times for some reason. Fear seems to get a hold, and there is something quite fearful about my current state of dysfunction.

Hi,

Are you thinking of trying Inderal instead of metoprolol? It's better for tremor.

Regards,
Ed.

No, won't touch drugs at this point in my life and really don't want to. My CNS is so very fragile. I don't have tremors. I just have muscle faciculations.

Ed,

Yes I am. I do not know why my doc gave me Metaprolol. It is a good med though. Has helped more than once.
