SLS - How's the Cymbalta trial going?

Hi Scott,

I haven't been on for a while and just wondered if the Cymbalta had kicked in yet?

Hi Denise.

It teased me. It kicked in for a few days and then stopped working completely. I'm not sure where to go next.

How does life find you?

Have you considered 10 mg selegiline + 500mg DLPA + P-5-P, as one poster suggested, after years of failing all else. The idea was the D-phenylalanine converted to PEA, while L-phenylalanine converted to tyrosine and PEA. PEA had a half life of seconds, but selegiline antagonized its breakdown. I think this might work well for you, since serotonergic mechanisms don't seem to assist your dx. Now, you continue to take Namenda and Lamictal, which you state makes your situation 15% better than your unmedicated baseline. I think this idea is worth a shot, given that unsatisfying level of improvement.

Hi Pseudonym.

What is P-5-P?

Do you think I would get the same benefit were I to substitute the selegiline for Parnate?

I’m amazed that you’ve kept track of what I’ve tried. You probably know my history better than my doctor!

Thanks.

I start Cymbalta soon. I have to ween off Effexor a bit first - can't wait for that. UGH.

P5P is nothing special, it just helps with amino acid uptake. Its available at any supplement store for next to nothing. Solgar makes some. Anyway, my real opinion is that the selegiline patch is what will help you the most, for reasons I've stated before, but my thought was that this would carry you through to that point.

Scott,

I'm sorry to hear that. That must have been a real bummer for you but I imagine you were ready for that to happen.

Yes life's ok for me, just sort nothingy really but not down in the depths of despair like I was so I have that much to be grateful for. Also I do have fairly good days too but never as good as they once were (still pining for those days). My boyfriend and friends tells me I'll kill myself trying to find what they think is just some sort of panacea but I know when I feel right and I know I still feel wrong.

I wish I knew what to suggest for you next (I don't) but I can see that other people have some suggestions. What about this mefipristone trial, are you still considering that, I think you should definately, I'd try it myself but am not eligible for any of the current trials over here.

Did you say that it was Parnate that had once worked well for you or was it a tricyclic?
