SONATA (Zaleplon) for Insomnia: anything about?

Posted by eve70 on September 2, 2004, at 13:12:54

Hi to every,
I suffer of insommnia that make me alert till early mornig.
So the following day im totally drowsy.
I tried Clordemetildiazepam (a derivate of valium) with a long emivite (100 h): it made me easily sleep but feel sedated the following days.
Read abut simil-benzos like Sonata, that has a very short emivite and will completely vanish within the morning after.
Any experience about this meds? Efficacy and side effects?
Thanx very much for your share and apologize for my awful English!
Eve

hi,eve!

i am posting this info from chemist, who is blocked at the moment. here is the info he wanted me to give you:

the long half-life of the benzodiazepine-derivative you have tried is making you sluggish. further, the onset of action is not strong enough to be used for the purposes of acute insomnia. zaleplon is not a benzodiazepine, but a sedative-hypnotic from a class of drugs that includes zolpidem and alpidem. zaleplon is useful for people who cannot fall asleep, but do not have trouble staying asleep. the emivite (half-life) is so short that one can take it repeatedly through the night. it sounds as if your case calls for something that has a slightly longer emivite, and that is zolpidem (Ambien in the U.S.). the drug is out of your system by morning and, further, your sleeping pattern will remain intact, which is a problem with benzos/derivatives. if zolpidem is not to your liking, try the benzo/benzo-derivatives temazepam or triazolam, the latter of which is marketed as Halcion in the U.S. and has a very short emivite (half-life).

good luck!
amy :)

I know you mean well, but please don't post for someone who's blocked, that's considered trying to get around being blocked:
