I cant converse (Is my brain not working?)

Posted by jonh kimble on August 30, 2004, at 21:40:21

K I have this thing were Ill be with someone and my minds always blank. No matter who. This basically makes social interactions impossible. Everyones heres (at school) so nice but after I say where Im from, my name, etc... Im lost!!! Im always a bit behind the flow of the conversation. I see others talk so freely about nothing and ENJOY it. I have nothing driving me to talk to others (since I cant) so this makes life utterly miserable. Im like this with people Im really not worried about being around too (although slightly less so). IM very sensitive to disaproval, but things like be yourself just dont seem to help in any way whatsoever. Stimulants help alot, but tend to poop out and cause this rebound state that can be terrible. Could this be ADD? Antidepressants never help and Ive tried many. Also wellbutrin (ad i know) and adrafinil and amisulpride. i also spent a long time in CBT for social anxiety and although I stuck with it, it really didnt help at all. My mind often feels blank and typing something like this takes so long to think of what to type next. I usually end up saying how are you? oh good. ok see you. Believe me ive tried to stick it out in a conversation.

This all makes me very socially anxious because I feel helpless in social situations! However, I dont feel my fears are irrational you see, contrary to typical social anxiety. True my self esteem is low, but its due to this. Any insights/ Similarites? Thanks a bunch. Ive got to nail this before it nails me.

hey john !!
it is tepiaca ,how you doing?
I read to you as If I were reading my own symptomps . I know how you feel . Everything you described is such a heal ,and normal people canīt understand why ? They only say , just try to think in others things , and dont be afraid . With the time you are going to lose this fear and many many things that they donīt have idea .

John of course this is something chemically related . You have to find the med . Dont give up
Try again Nardil for more time , or antoher MAOI
Maybe one drug is not going to give 100% relief
but at least you are gonna be able to talk a little bit more and feel less observed and critizied among people.

I was exactly like you 1 year ago . But Nardil has help me , although not the way I was dreaming.
New Nardil is not good , but I cant do other thing for the moment.

Dont give up john ! , find the medicine !!! find it!!

I call this problem "my record player is skipping". I will be in therapy and trying to talk and my thought is gone. It might pick back up just like on a record player. I am dissociative, so I am assuming this is a symptom of my problem. I am on meds and I don't find this getting better. If yours is from anxiety, then meds will help you.

I have the same problem only the other part. I'm no good with the pleasantrys, Hi, how are you, etc, they just don't pop into my mind, or most likely I'm not in the mood. Those things tend to make people uncomfortable and me too, but I just avoid it. If I do get started talking I can talk a storm off. For some reason I talk in logic, only.
