Hi all, I ahve soem lithium questions...
Is Lithium sedating?
Does Lithium cause akathisia?
How long must one take Lithium before feelign its therapeutic effects?Any infor would be great, thanks

Hi chemist, upon further evaul, I decided to see if you could answer these if you ahve time because you have always been a great resource. I so concerned because I've been taking trileptal for awhile but developed a small rash so my PDOC wants me off of it pronto, I'm tapering slow and am really going to miss this, it worked well for me. Trileptal hasn't been a miracle cure but I certainly have liked it alot because it mellows out my moods and it also has an anti-anxiety effect on me. my PDOC thinks I'll like Lithium but I'm not convinced... I'm not BP I but more BP II or trudging that way on the spectrum, and have never had a psychotic mania... I think she wants to try this instead as she knows how sensitive I am to the idea of weight gain and good old depakote apparently is worse in this regard. I really hope the Lithium works the same as my beloved trileptal.

Sometimes a little...until you get the dose right.> How long must one take Lithium before feelign its therapeutic effects?
I kid you not.......I literally felt it within 2-3 days.

So far I think these 600 mgs of this simple salt has been one of the most important drug I have ever been given.

I have heard this alot form alot of people, have you encountered any side effects... I heard that lithium can also have anti-anxiety effects... have you ahd any anxiety problems that the lithium has helped with??
