Well there's been plenty of that lately in the UK, well rain anyway and a bit of lightening, felt like going out in it myself holding a huge metal rod.

Know what you mean, I think they do ECT in Scotland though but if I were you and you're thinking of getting it, I'd look into having this Bifrontal ECT which I believe is being looked into as an alternative form of ECT with less side effects.

I also thought they did it at the Maudsley Clinic in London, who told you they don't do it in the UK?

CC and Denise

My pdoc appointment today I asked for ect...because I can't face waking up anymore He's referring me to the Maudsley again for alternative treatment..therapy maybe ?too see if that will help
I'm on a level mood(he says I have dysthimia/bipolar) but a very depressing one.
He upped my paxil from 20 -30mg. I suspect for the first 2 weeks of dose raise I'll sleep better/deeper and be more energetic/interested in things.
I've got so desperate I'm carrying crystals around with me and hung a dream catcher up in my bedroom- you never know.
Anyway thanks for replying to my post..I' just want to sleep while the rain is lashing down...there goes summer.

Slinky,

If you're going to try ECT then it might be worth asking about Bi-Frontal ECT, not that I know much about ECT fullstop but I've heard a few people on this board saying it suppose to be just as effective as Bilateral but without so much memory loss.

Also, thought I'd mention that when I got really depressed again three years ago, the psychiatrist initially tried me on 20mg, this had a bad effect although I'd responded really well to it when I was about 27. After trying loads of drugs and a two years down the line a new psychiatrist decided to put me straight on 40mg without a slow increase, initially felt bad the first week but from then on was much much better than the previous two years. Still not great but a lot more in control.

I've just tried dropping back down on the seroxat to 30mg and am not feeling as good so I hope that if I go back up to 40 I'll feel better again. You never know though do you, it's hard to tell with half of this medication how it's going to affect you but I hope you start to feel better soon.

Tabitha,

I'd seriously like to give this a try myself but what if you don't have any problems apart from the fact that you feel like crap and are depressed and anxious all the time?

slinky,

hi there :). hon, you must be feeling really low to be considering ECT. *please* just really look into this before you do it. talk to more people on this board, like SLS, who've had it done and regretted it (i think). please try all your other options first, and really research meds...you can email me if you like (through babblemail)..i'd be happy to help...

i wish you luck and am here if you need me!

Thanks for support...

I'm ok , just can't communicate well--brains so messed..don't really know what to say.
Had an energetic surge and dismantaled the washing machine and now it's in machine heaven.
I just want to sleep and hide..I get the agitation that comes with dose increase-it's my first day...so it's best if i avoid communication for a while-unless i awake feeling fluffy.
Take care.
And Tabitha--naughty naughty--you made me smile:)
