LEXAPRO KICKED IN AFTER 45 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by flipsactown on July 23, 2004, at 14:21:48

Just wanted to share!!!! Yes!!! Lexapro has finally kicked in and has dramatically lifted my unipolar depression. The first 3 weeks were horrible especially, since I had to get off Nardil for 2 weeks before my pdoc would Rx Lexapro. So for the first couple of weeks, I was practically bedridden, as I was so tired and had flu like symptoms in that every bone in my body ached. On top of that, I had intense insomnia which I finally had to take Ambien and then Seroquel. Currently, I am not having to take any meds for sleep, although I have mild insomnia, but NO DEPRESSION! All I can say for new Lex users is to hang in there because it will get better.

YEAH!!! Glad to hear you are doing better!

INSOMNIA......I used to have terrible insomnia - a major cause of depression for me. Never had a full nite of sleep, would wake at 3 or 4AM ( if I fell asleep at all!!!) and toss and turn until alarm went off. Now I fall asleep easily and quickly and I STAY asleep ALL NITE!!! I would continue to take Lex for that reason alone, not to mention it has done wonders for my depression and PMS.

Hang in there and hopefully you too will get great results!~~~8|8

Hi Marisposa
I read your reply about the insomnia.
What did you say cured it?
I have had the same problem for years but every cure has been worse than the problem?
I wake at three and can't get back to sleep. Of course, that is also a symptom of depression.

thanks for the info

Diagnosis - PMDD and depression.

Rx - Lexapro. Started at 5mg 16 months ago, currently at 30mg. First 3 weeks were VERY rough and it took 9 weeks before I noticed any *good results*, but I have never felt SO GOOD about going to bed.....I don't dread it any more, have not had any nites where I could NOT fall asleep, rarely wake in the early AM, if I do, I go right back to sleep. I fall asleep easily (20-30 min, often befor that even), wake refreshed! I LOVE IT!!! At first had intense dreams, but not any more, I can rarely recall what I dreamt now.

Hope this info helps!~~~8|8
