I did a search and there is a website http://www.provigil.com that you can find out all about it.

However, the summary when I got the search results said that Provigil is a "wake-promoting agent indicated to improve wakefulness in patients with excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy."

I have heard that it is a *very good* med in terms of being effective with little to no side effects. However, I've heard it's expensive (but perhaps you have insurance coverage) and I don't have any direct experience with it.

I'm sure others will answer you here but I would suggest going to the provigil.com website!

I 100 mg of provigil right now...working up to 200mg. I am using it for ADD. Before getting a prescription, have your pdoc give you samples. So far I am not impressed. It makes me dizzy and sick to my stomach. Sometimes I think it helps with procrastination.

I also take adderall.

Its very expensive...I have to pay 40 bucks with my insurance card. Normally it would be 25 for non generic.

My (200mg) of Provigil works with my Strattera to give me more initiative, more motivation, more energy and much less suicidal ideation (but, sorry, I don't know what Provigil does alone, except that it wasn't enough). I have depression.

It keeps me awake. and counteracts the desire to stay in bed and stare at the ceiling all day. Not a lot, but some.

I have a sleep disorder, depression, and anxiety. I like it much better than dexedrine. I couldn't tolerate ritalin.

It works in a different way than other stimulants. I take 200 mg, sometimes 250. More than that can make me jittery.

In fact, I feel a need for another benzo. I was okay with the clutch of pills on the nightstand until I got to the benzos and an offer of lithium.

O.K., I don't want everyone to go wild here but I've been on Provigil for about a year to counter-act a side effect of Lithium. I've been diagnosed bipolar for years and I've tried everything under the sun. Most of us know that antidepressants have negative sexual side effects (except maybe Desyrel). Now, here is the question, and I'll try to phrase it so I don't get into trouble with Dr. Bob, has anyone noticed that Provigil dramatically increases the magnitude of, oh, how shall I say it, the moment of truth during sex. I was somewhat shocked the first time I noticed it (immediately after I started taking it). I havn't noticed any other sexual side effects but WOW!!!!!!!

How long before you noticed this effect? Maybe I will dig out my old prescription ;).

I noticed it the first time I engaged in such activity after I took Provigil. It goes away if I stop taking it and it comes back when I start again. But I've never heard anyone else mention it and it seems like the kind of thing that would come up (no pun intended). I don't want to be vulgar but the effect is really spectacular. In fact I've never experienced anything like it. I really could go on but you get the idea.

Here is some evidence of why

I found this on the web. Perhaps it is a partial explanation.

The Chemistry Behind Sex
The orgasm pleasure is fascillitated through stimulation of the endorphins/opiate receptors. The libido itself is stimulated by dopamine and noradrenal receptors (Provigil boosts libido) and inhibited with serotonin receptors (SSRI's can inhibit libido). Things that can increase libido are NA-Agonists, Zinc, P5P and B12. Things that can reduce libido are SSRI's and anything that can clog NA receptors such as heavy metals and H2S (hydrogen sulfide caused by fermentation of sugar in gut by bad yeast or bacteria). Things that make H2S worse and therefore reduce libido are bad bacteria or yeast in gut, and the sugar they ferment. Therefore, less sugar consumption, in some people with this condition, boosts libido.
