I AM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO HELP WITH DEPRESSION AND NOT MAKE ME SLEEPY. BUT I READ SOME POSTS THAT WELLBUTRIN MAKES PPL TIRED TOO. I HAVE SOCIAL ANXIETY ALSO, BUT NOTHING WORKS FOR THAT. Wellbutrin in general does not make people sleepy. It is more activating than the SSRI's. It is true, that you will hear of people on this board who have found it made them sleepy, but these people are the exception.

I think it is worth a try.

Have you considered Buspar ? I havent read too many complaints about it. It works alot differently than most serotonin specific meds. Just a thought

Wellbutrin makes people less tired, not more tired. Although there might be some exceptions.

Why not increase your dose of Paxil? That would probably work.

Sorry if I contributed to your concern about wellbutrin making you tired.

I am one of the freaks that it makes tired (at least during day one and day two!), but most people get lots of energy from the drug.

I, in fact, was hesitant to try it because I was afraid it would make my anxiety worse. HA!

It can make some people feel more jittery. It had that effect on me when I tried it.

If you dont want to try Wellbutrin, its not a big deal.

You can try provigil, but its mainly just a stimulant, but it can act like an antidepressant, but it is expensive. Check in to it.

The post about wellbutrin making him tired i belive is a pardoc. effect of it, and maybe it needs time to kick in. Wellbutrin is stimulating to many people, this is rare to me to hear it causes tiredness.

The reason i am urging you to try Wellbutrin, it is a mild dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, or in other words, it causes more dopamine and norepinehrine to be in the nerve synapse. Both of these neurotransmitters are deal with arousal, dopamine deals with pleasure and motivation, and norepinehrine deals with attention and energy.

Paxil is a SSRI and a potent one too, serotonin i belive at moderatly high levels will cause fatigue, which is a side effect of it. This is maybe why you are tired alot.

But i do think Wellbutrin may help in your situation, but if you dont agree, Provigil again which is a stimulant will give you energy, mainly what it is prescribed for.

Take care

Matt

Thanks everyone. I saw my pdoc today, and I mentioned wellbutrin, but she thought, I should take prozac and lamictal along with my xanax. besides the sleepy and blahh feelings, I was depressed again. So, I am hoping prozac will work. I have never tried that. Any imput on prozac would be appreciated.

Oh well to wellbutrin

Prozac is a SSRI also but i belive its a less-drowsy SSRI. Good luck on it.

Again, I had the opposite experience. I had to take prozac at night, but it didn't leave me tired during the day. Most people have to take it during the day because it is so activating.

One of my friends is on prozac and loves it. It was not the AD for me.
