Effexor Withdrawl, sounds like i'm one of a kind??

Posted by becksA on May 26, 2004, at 15:45:17

About 6 months ago I got up to quite a high dose of Effexor XR (somewhere between 150 and 200), and it didnt do a thing for me. I had been on it only for about a month or two however. Finally, I just stopped taking it cold turkey, with no, ZERO, side effects. Everybody talks about how horrible they can be. Anybody have none whatsoever or am I very exclusive in this case?

I didn't really have much withdrawl. I think that if it doesn't do anything for you then it is more likely that it won't hurt upon withdrawl.

People seem very different in that way. For example, I don't experience benzo withdrawal. I can take 2-3 mg/day for months and then quit when (for reasons I don't understand) my anxiety vanishes for a while. Other people seem to have problems with benzo dependence--although it never seems to touch Effexor dependence.

I was on Effexor 300 mg and had to stop due to a rise in my blood pressure. I had no particular reaction to merely stopping it. I believe there is a significant minority of people who do have problems (I've read 30 to 50%), but it clearly not universal.
