Hi Sebastian. I dont know if u remember me. i had terrible withdrawal with zyprexa last summer and the year before.. remember? well after 11 atempts to quit. i did it last july. i did not sleep day or nite for 5weeks. NOT at ALL..and throwed up the first 14 days.. after 5 weeks my body could sleep again. then i had light fever for 3 months after that. then i finally got good. now im happy like never before. i sleep like a dream.my body and mind are working normal again. i mean that zypreaxa destroyed 2years of my life and got me addicted .i have been almost 1year without zyprexa and other medicals. im just saying.. NEVER again.. i wish u good luck sebastian. i know how hard it is.. but i made it.. i was in hell.. now iam in heaven..

I have tried twice now to go off Zyprexa and it has been hell. I would love to ask you a few questions about it. Can I have your e-mail?

what problems have you had. I've been trying to cut back my dose to get rid of side effects and on the third day especially have a great deal of anxiety. after that I'm a little better but my functioning comes and goes as does the anxiety.
I haven't been sure if it is med withdrawal or me.

I can't wait! I'm at 5 mg right now. Looking forward to 0 mg, and the nice normal sleep, and appatite, and everything else. Good to know what to expect.

Anxiety is my problem too. I cut back, feel fine, and some thing increases my anxiety, like lay offs at work or some thing, then I go back up in dose. I'm hoping if I can go more and more time at lower doses that eventualy I can handle it all the time.

Yes the other problem is my functioning. My thinking is more clear on zyprexa. Less emotional. So I concentrate better.

I feel like I am in a horrible cycle. When I take the zyprexa I feel sluggish and dizzy. When I try to stop I feel extremely sick physically to the point that it has landed my in the emergency room. I am very scared and very angry that this so-called nonaddictive medication is really screwing up my life.

zyprexa for life?

In reply to Re: question: MRC, posted by MCP on May 23, 2004, at 15:02:32

I'm at the point where I just have to love it. Tryed a lower dose, that didn't last one day. Anxiety, thoughts about the low dose not working so much that I was obsesivly worried about it. So I took the extra, and was ok in less than an hour. Atleast I accomplished one thing. I don't need the 10 mg dose as much anymore. So I take 7.5 mg. Looks like I will be here for a long time. Probably atleast anouther year. I have not still fully accustomed myself to 7.5, but it still is better than 10 mg all the time. Side-effects are much more managable. I guess 5+ years of 10 mg dose, means more than 6 months at about 7.5 mgs most of the time.

My thing is that I was on Ativan for 10 years. I find myself wondering if I should just go back to using that instead. I am wondering if there is anything that can offset the withdrawals from zyprexa. I am an alcoholic and I find myself wondering if I should just pick up the bottle and ride out the withdrawals. That is how desperate I am.

Which is better alcohol or zyprexa? I had the heavyest drinking habbits when I was taking zyprexa, not before .. On zyprexa I would drink every day, lots, atleast 4 big ones. 22 oz, 3 oz vodca 100 proof, ton of rum. pack of joints every day, like 20, by myself. I gave all that up, still can't get off the zyprexa.

Yeah, but I still wonder if there is something that could offset the horrible feeling. I felt terribly sick when I tried to stop. I was thinking of taking painkillers. I still can't believe they call this crap nonaddictive.

So far so good, my son's Psyc. reduced his Zyprexa from 20 mg to 15 mg. His appetite has cut down a little after 5 days of this new dose. He also has had difficulty swallowing which he claims is somewhat better now. We poo-pooed the Dr's idea of switching him to Abilify which previously had given him nightmares and hallucinations. He may further reduce the Zyprexa to 10 mg, only time will tell.

I will also add that the first time I ever took zyprexa, I was in love. I knew I liked it. Almost like coke, that was my impresion. Told my doctor, he didn't know what to say.

When I stoped my zyprexa, after a few day, I honistly could not eat solid food. You can expect a change with every decrease. My change from 15 mg down to 10 mg, made a world of difference. I stoped sleeping 18 hours a day and binge eating. 10 mg worked very well for 5 years, now I take 7.5.

I'm not so sure that I would say its as addictive as coke. Its not quite the same. I realy don't know what I'm saying. But I do think zyprexa is a very effective medication. Yes I do feel like I need it. No I do not seack more and more zyprexa. I just like to insure that I always have the same effective dose, every day, because it helps me so much. I think I depend on it. have no problems taking less or wanting to take less. Except for the fact that my concentration is not as good without it, anxiety is horible(as it was before taking zyprexa). So I fully endorse the use of zyprexa(I should work for Eli Lilly). Hope I have not discoraged people from taking zyprexa. Yes I tried crack on 2 separet ocasions, only, have not touched it in atleast 4 years.. I don't even enjoy crack. Anyways keep taking zyprexa, its better than taking anything illegal. It can be stoped, if you don't mind the ill effect after you stop. Thats why I always go back and trust zyprexa.

hope I didn't scare you. I think zyprexa it doing wonderfull things for your son. I also think if he switched to Abilify and/or just totaly stoped zyprexa cold turky he would not sleep or eat at all. When coming off zyprexa It needs to be done slow. If you get him down to 10 mg I think it would be a very good dose, he probably could get his weight under control. Just don't move too quik. Stay at 15 for a month or so. See how it goes.

I understand what you are saying about Zyprexa. After trying Seroquel instead for only four days I was miserable and when I took my dose of Zyprexa it felt like little bubbles in my head and then I was so relaxed. That bothered me a lot. I'm taking 5 mg Zyprexa, 5 mg abilify, and 2.5 mg alprasalam now. Before taking alprasalam I don't remember being espically anxious but if I cut back I suffer. The same is true of the Zyprexa, I want to try to stay at 2.5 mg because it makes me forgetful and physically slow and stiff. Like you, the first time I took it I felt wonderful, and now I don't know if I'll ever do without it. That wouldn't be so bad if I felt 100% better with it, but I don't.
