need advice...still no sleep/no sex - Effexor

Posted by beatrix34 on May 15, 2004, at 21:01:58

It'a been 3 weeks on Effexor XR now and I am STILL not sleeping well...argg...every night I wake up between 1am and 3am. I have tried taking "Simply Sleep" 50mg and it does help but I still wake up in the night a couple of times, and I have a hangover the next day...it sux. PLUS I have ZERO sex drive left. My poor husband, I just moved in after doing a long distance relationship for 3 years...this is driving me crazy! I don't want to take a whole wack of pills. The Effexor is making me feel better, I am coping with all the stresses that life is throwing me but I just feel so stuck...ne sleep, no sex and when we do have sex it's only mediocre for me...this is NOT normal, we usually have a great sex life...

Is it time to try something new? How long should I try to bear with these side effects? I feel a bit defeated. I am trying to get better but I don't want to do it at the expense of my relationship...help!

Was going to say the same thing as above.
I did the effexor thing about a year and a half ago. It worked great for panic/anxiety, but zapped the libido. Hopefully your doc will help you out.

I added wellbutrin to my meds when effexopr cause my blood pressure to go too high. It restored my libido nicely.

Good luck.

People respond to these meds differently. I never tried remeron, so I can't say how that would be in combo with Effexor. It's worth a shot though.

I added Effexor to Wellbutrin and it had the cruel dual effect of increasing my libido while simultaneously eliminating my ability to err...climax (blushes). I finally called Effexor quits after realizing that the insomnia was so bad that I could not get to sleep even after being awake for 24 hours and working a midnight shift. I was on it for about 4-5 months.
