today is 13 days since I quit effexor xr cold turkey. I had all the systems. I used bextra for muscle and joint pain and motion sickness pills for vomiting for about 4 days. I still have some headaches and joint pain, but not too bad. I was prescribed effexor for menopause symtoms. I lost the estrogen in my body. effexor helped with them. i gained 37 pounds and said I have had enough. now that my brain is function correctly again, I realize that while on effexor, i really was not living at all. I could care less what was going on. I will deal with anxiety. I will never let a doctor try a medicine that affects the brain again. the withdrawal symtoms are not bad at all now, some joint and muscle pain and a few brain freezes a day. it is getting much better. takes about 2 weeks to withdraw. if I can do it so can you. it is rough but it is worth it, now I need to learn 33 more pounds to get back to my normal size 6. I will do it. good luck to all of you. remember don't let them cover up your symtons, learn to deal with them. at leat we will be living in the real world.

It's a bit late now, but Prozac is very helpfull for the symptoms of Effexor withdrawl.
