ritalin and hearing loss?

Posted by anahata on April 21, 2004, at 18:05:51

i've been on short-acting methylin (generic ritalin) for almost 4 months now. i started out at 20 or 30mg per day (can't remember) and now i'm up to 80mg. it's helped tremendously with my hypersomnia and concentration problems. but over the past week especially, i've been noticing some hearing loss that's been getting worse. i also often get this weird feeling of tension inside my ears. i wonder if maybe i just have an ear infection--but my ears never hurt.

i'm also on 300mg effexor xr and 80mg geodon. i think my diagnosis is somewhere between major depressive and bipolar II.

has anyone else experienced this? is it permanent?

me again--i've also been feeling kinda out-of-body for the past two weeks, on and off, which actually started after i took 1 unisom tablet one night. i mention it because maybe the out-of-body feeling and hearing loss could be related?
