SSRI's to St. Johns Wort or Amoryn?

Posted by Karalyn on December 8, 2003, at 13:11:53

Hey, Im on Lexapro now for about 3 weeks. I am trying to look down the road to when I get married next summer. I wont have insurance under my parents anymore then. So I dont know why im on lexapro cause i wont be able to continue it later. I was wondering if I should just give Amoryn a try. Ive seen the site and I know it works for some people. It has a combo of SJW and 5-HTP so is that more effective? Can I taper off Lexapro and start that? or get completely off? i need some advice.

I also dont know if I have mild or severe depression. My therapist thinks I have GAD too. he is just an intern at my college though cause its free counseling here on campus that i use. I want to go from Lexapro to Amoryn. I need advice on that too. has anyone had Amoryn work for GAD or anything more than just "mild" depression? is it really really effective? what do i do???

I can't tell you what to do but I can share my experience. I also was on Celexa for 2 years at 20mg. I cut the pill in half and took 10mg. For one week I had moderate withdrawal that went away. Then I switched to the liquid form being VERY careful to convert properly the mg to ml and weaned off slowly from there. I've been off now for 2 years. Due to increased work stress as of late I've been thinking of trying SJW or Amoryn but would like something standardized that doesn't vary pill to pill and bottle to bottle. You know.. that messes with my mind. Peace.

Sorry to interrupt, but I'd like to redirect follow-ups regarding alternative treatments to Psycho-Babble Alternative. Here's a link:
