Mixing alcohol and benzodiazepines is not a good idea because they exacerbate each other's negative side effects. 14 mg of Klonopin (7 times the normal highest dosage), would likely render one comatose (or near so) for at least a day and adding alcohol would probably extend that. Body coordination would also be totally lost or at least impaired significantly.

So yeah, not a good combo.

It would make you sleep a long time or make you sleep a REAL long time.

If Benzos are helpful for your anxiety in anyway it would be best not to abuse them. I'm not trying to be the joy police, but, if your doctor suspects you are eating them he will most likely not give them to you anymore.

Cheers,
Panda.

It depends on how much Klonopin you take normally... but combining it with alcohol will just increase the negative effects, and at the very least is likely to cause a blackout (alcohol-like), confusion, at the worst it can cause loss of consciousness (coma), and potentially dangerous respiratory depression.

Interesting...--I had read that some people take from 8 to 20 mg/ day, so that's why i was wondering. (or was I thinking of another benzo?) For seizures maybe?

I think you would find it difficult to find someone taking above 8 mgs...but, Klonopin is used for a specific type of epilepsy, and the dose can be increased (over time) to a max of 20 mgs...you can't start off on 20 mgs...

Are you thinking about suicide?

Anyone considering this dosage with alcohol is thinking about suicide in my opinion. It's NEVER an option to put benzo together with alcohol. This is just plain common sense.

Are you thinking about suicide?

I had a friend that asked questions about meds and other things. No one had a clue. She appeared to be happy to us. Guess what? She is dead. It's been 25 years now. I will not reveal the way she did it, but it worked well. Of course with suicide, they did an autopsy. She was bloated and had a wig and wax on her face. She didn't even look like my friend at all. As for the letter, it went to the cops. No one knows what really happened. I DO NOT PLAY WITH QUESTIONS LIKE THIS!!

Let me tell you something else here. I was in the hospital with a woman that did something similiar to this plan. It almost worked. She said it scared her to fight for her life. She came face to face with not being able to respond and being pumped out for drugs. Don't even think about this!

I read into posts and when I hit people between the eyes, they will write back with some minimized response or the opposite of their post. I read into this one quite easily. Get help. Don't even play with this idea.

Folks don't be fooled by posts like this. This is a cry for help.

Thank you for all the answers.

Thank you as well to whoever suggested the psychological forum. I was wondering what would be the appropriate forum for the suicidal aspects of such a question, and where it would be acceptable to talk freely about that aspect of it.

Thanks again.

Getting on to the right Antidepressants that best suit you will get rid of suicide ideation. They also help you to communicate more freely.

Panda.

Hi Silmarilone,

Here at Dr. Bob's, but in a different section. If you scroll to the top of the page you will find links & descriptions. Click here--> http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/psycho/ to go to the section where people discuss things & thearpy. This section you are in now deals with presciption medication effects & side effects, but you can post here if you want or there or even both places :) You will find some people that post here in other sections too. I hope I haven't confused you, sometimes I read my own writings & confuse myself. :)

Cheers,
Panda.

Please do post about your feelings and/or the situation(s) that you feel are driving you to feel suicidal.

Sad Panda gave you the contact post. I will look for your post if you choose to post.

Also, I hope you have some type of support off the net, such as a counselor or a friend you can talk to at this time.

Many of us want to support you. Please, don't do anything impulsive due to feelings. Many of us have been acutely suicidal and have found treatment(s) and support that have shown us that suicide is not the answer.

You have been in my thoughts. Sending caring thoughts and protection for you.

Shadows
