Dear Mel,
Like you I am being treated for anxiety, panic, and depression (in that order). I switched from 25mgs Paxil CR to 10mgs Lexapro without any break. When my dosage was raised to 15mgs after two weeks at 10mgs, I suffered from depression for about two weeks. Then it lifted and I felt much better. You will too,
Thinking of you,
Edna B

Hi,

I recently increased my Lexapro dose to 20 mgs and also increased my Wellbutrin dose to 150 mgs. Now I'm very sensitive to light, it hurts my eyes. I don't know if it's the Lex or the Wellbutrin. Has anyone experienced this with Lex? Thanks.

K.

Em, I switched to p.m. for awhile, but went back to a.m. because p.m. made the insomnia worse.

I want to thank all of you for all the encouragement that you have given to me. I dont think that I would have stayed on the Lexapro without all the encouragement I have received here. I had a real hard time for the 1st 3 weeks adjusting to this med. Now I am doing okay. I still have anxiety but nothing like I did have. I want to thank all of you . THANK YOU. If I can be of any kind of support to any of you wonderful people here please let me know. I would also like to thank Mystic , she has been a very special friend to me through all of this. She now needs all of our prayers for her, she is going through a hard time. I know she is going to be fine. :) She is great. You all are. Thanks again and God bless all of you.

I take mine before I go to bed because it makes me sleepy. Since I've increased to 15mgs I have been waking up with a headache but that happened when I first started Lex so I know it will go away. It's hard to say when to take it because it effects everybody differently. Some it give insominia and some it makes sleepy. I guess it is just a trial and error thing. Good Luck and I hope you feel better soon!!!

I take mine in the morning--I tried 10mgs in the morning and 5 at night, but I was waking in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I have since figured out that I do that when I use a birth-control pill or patch. If you are groggy after taking it, try at night--only the first night take half at night, the other half in the morning, and then all the second night. After supper is also good.

I have just started taking celexa (canada), if it is beneficial to switch to Lexapro would you have to come off celexa slowly first?

I guess it would be cheaper also to just buy the generic celexa when available as it will be years before Lexapro has a generic version?.

Hello Bridetobe...I had a hard time starting and it has been up and down I remember having a great week then a bad week then a great week then a bad one...So you have to be prepared for whatever happens until you totally adjust..that is just my experience..My worst time has been when I have had my period...The first one was bad because I had such a great week then towards the end of my period I crashed and the same thing happened on my next period I have had two since starting the lex...but hopefully this will even out...My point is dont be distressed if it doesnt last because it will get better again...And you might just have to adjust the med to fit during your cycle...Not sure if this helps just my experience and hope others share with you also...Hey I have a questions how does everyone do after a couple of drinks on lex..this would be the first time since starting lex and was just wondering...Thanks Mystic

thanks for your story! i totally understand. um, about the drinking, i went out the other night and had about 3 pina coladas and i was fine. i did not feel funny and i also did not feel like the lex made me more drunk. it was just like if i had had 3 drinks before i was on lex. everyone may be different, but it was totally fine with me. i was kinda scared to, but i had no problems at all. i dont know how it would be if you drank alot though, but in my opinion a few should not hurt, but ask around! thanks!
