Whoa -- I just took my first Lexapro after not being on it for 6 weeks. I never had side effects before, but now my heart is pounding rapidly and I feel incredibly nauseated!
Is this normal? On just one little pill? What could cause this? Is it that my brain already has necessary serotonin and this is _too_ much stimulus?

Hi Bookgurl,
That's how I felt when I took my first Lex. Although, it's strange that your body is having that reaction even though you've taken it before. Wait for a few days to see if things don't improve. You might try taking a benzo to try and slow down the rapid heart beat. The nasea will pass. All of what you're experiencing are very common side effects.
When you first started taking Lexapro were you on any other medications? Sometimes people who are taking another SSRI when they switch to Lex don't experience as many side effects, that might be why you didn't feel this way when you began taking it.
I hope you feel better soon.
K.
