Has anyone taken buspar for anxiety

I have recently tried paxil and zoloft for anxiety neither worked so im thinking of trying buspar. Does it work?

Not for me. I tried it for about 10 weeks and it had a minimal effect.

Of course, we are all different.

I actually consider Buspar more of a weak antidepressant, and quasi-sedative (little sedation in itself, but amplifies the sedation of other drugs) than a true anxiolytic. Pdocs like it because it seems to have little in the way of discontinuation syndrome, and it can sometimes reverse the sexual side effects of SSRI's and Effexor. If your anxiety runs to panic-attack proportions, however, it has been shown not to work.

I think buspar is useless for anxiety. I agree with the other post. It acts like a weak antidepressant. It did not help me with Lexapro in regard to the sexual side effects. However, when I used it by itself, it did increase sexual enjoyment. When I got on higher doses of it, it made me very irritable. It will make you dizzy about 20 mins after you take it. It will pass and you will have the munches right after it kicks in too.
