prozac for ocd

Posted by slippinaway on February 6, 2004, at 19:47:26

hello,
can anyone help me here?? i really feel that maybe prozac is the drug i should have stuck with years ago when i got off it and started paxil.
now my p-doc is so gung-ho on lexapro it's hard to convince him that i don't think it's for me.
basically what i'm asking is do you think since prozac is so old that these newer ad's are actually more advanced and prozac is outdated and not as good as say"lexapro" or could prozac be just as good for certain people than these newer ad's?

Hi slippin,
I am a huge fan of prozac.. My little story is that I started with prozac 4 years ago, and achieved partial remission of my depression... Then I went on a whirlwind of medications: I have been on 28 (thats right 28) different psychoactive medications and had 10 ECT sessions.. I'm 22 years old.. And the ONLY treatment that improved my depression was prozac.. I follow the psychopharm research and prozac is still credited with being useful for many different disorders...
Just my opinion,

I fooled around a lot and Prozac seems to fit me. It is like the missing mollecule in my body. Which is not to say that the side effects are not bad. They are. But I am just looking at augmenting or reversing side effects, not going to a differenct antidepressant.
