Neurontin

Posted by marfaith on February 5, 2004, at 15:24:17

I am taking Neurontin for an unexplained nerve problem, 1500 mg. It has helped, but I think I need to increase the dosage. Is Neurontin used for depression also? When I increase the dosage it makes me feel a little off but then that feeling decreases. I would be curious to hear from others about their experiences and usage. Thanks, Mar

Hi:
In my knowledge from reading/hearing, Neurontin is anti-seizure med. that uses for 'pain management/neurological problem' such as yours.
In regard to whether Neurontin is working on depression, ... I simply doubt, ... even never heard of it. Hence, if you have depression along with neuro.problem, then you need anti-depressant that goes WELL with neurontin, because you need this med. Neurontin for your problem that must be a VERY first treatment for you to get well.

Thanks Happy Girl. I definitely need the Neurontin for my pain. I was only wondering about the depression because of some of the posts. I'm not sure what others are using it for. I will read further. I think my depression has been helped dramatically with exercise. I never did exercise until I gained 32 lbs in three months on Remeron, which I quit taking and in less than a week I have lost five lbs. Altogether now 9 lbs and counting :)
