How many different drugs have you tried for sleep? Which benzodiazepines have you tried?

> I wonder is it safe to take this drug with Nardil ??

I am not sure, but other drugs in that class are safe to take with Nardil.

> IS THIS AN ANTIPSHYCOTIC DRUG ???

YES.

It is sometimes used for sedation for surgery, but I have never heard of it being used for sleep.

> Im refused to take a medicine like this . I dont want more problems in my life . Im really scared of TD and all this stuff

Other drugs are better for sleep that are not antipsychotics.

I would try other drugs first.

- lorazepam
- zaleplon
- zolpidem
- trazodone

I am always reluctant to tell people not to follow their doctor's directions. However, I think you should discuss other options with your doctor.

I´ve tried
Diazepam
Clonazepam
Lorazepam

None of these benzos work , maybe thats why my doctor is giving me this different drug

I have SP , for me its very difficult to express with people my uncomformity with something . I think I would rather wait 15 days and told my doctor it dint work . That sounds very very stupid
dont you think ?
I have argued the decisions of my doctor before , and I can see in his face he doesnt like when I do that . In one part its true , he is the doctor , he is the one that knows about this field
im just a baby compared to him , i dont know nor the 1% that he knows.

I think one the the biggest problems with old , experienced doctors , is that they get used to the older drugs , and they still have much faith on them , because most of his life have worked with them . Anyway

what do you think ? what should I do ?

No. I know just what that feels like. Depression makes it worse.

I think you should ask your doctor about using one of the newer antipsychotics. You can express your concerns about the risks of developing EPS and tardive dyskinisia with the older ones. Seroquel works for a lot of people and doesn't cause very much weight gain. There is also Remeron, an antidepressant that a lot of doctors use to treat insomnia.

Please let us know how things go.

I was on Nozinan for insomnia. I only used it for about a week. My pdoc allowed me to titrate it as I felt. The pills came in 2mg size, and she said that she had some patients taking as much as 1 gram!!! She said that I could keep going up on my own without fear of overdosing.

I think I made it to about 18mg before I stopped due to tachycardia. It just made my heart race too fast. And it never helped me to fall asleep or to stay asleep.

I would be leery of any antipsychotics due to the fact of TD. There must be better sleeping aids than antipsychotics.

So far, I have tried without success:
Clonazipam
Ativan
Nozinan
Zopiclone
Trazadone

I am going to try Remeron next. It probably is my last attempt before I pretty much give up on being able to sleep!

The first time I combined Parnate with desipramine, I needed to take both Halcion and Ativan to get to sleep. Halcion is the most potent of the benzodiazepines, but it has a short half-life. Ativan and Restoril have longer half-lives. I needed the Halcion to initially fall asleep and the Ativan to stay asleep.
