I know, I know. But my question is IF I were to be social with the holidays and all and decided to have a few beers....How long should I be off the Klonopin? I mean I took it originally to make my anticipatory anxiety less, so that I can travel. But If I am just staying here in the local area I am OK. So, if I knew a party was coming up...and planned to drink...whats the best way to go about it? Or is it just not worth it. Any experiences?
Thanks,
Andy

I'd say about a week, but I don't have any personal experience to back that up. I can say from personal experience that klonopin + alcohol will eff you up pretty bad. I was seeing four, and blacked out.

> AndyNot worth the risk. Just take more Klonopin, and drink soda water w/ lime. Alcohol is a crappy drug. Avoid it as a treatment for anxiety.

Seems like the effect of alcohol and klonopin is highly individual. I take 3mg daily and i can party with no problem, i don't know why but klonopin doesn't cause any problems for me when i'm drunk. Of course the first time i drank alcohol while on klonopin i was very cautious, just to see how it affects me. I do the same thing with other psych meds(of course not the ones that are strictly contraindicated).
Well that's me. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't./tensor

>Might be too late but my experience with this combination is pretty good. BUT I need to take exactly 2mg klonopin and drink no more than 2-3 beers - then I become sociable as never before. Drinking more than 3 beers or taking more than 2mg klonopin = NOT A GOOD IDEA, unless you want to spend the evening sleeping on the table (or under the table ;-)
Just my 2 not FDA-approved ;) cents.
I use this combo in stressful or sociable interactions.

I took myself off klonopin once. It is NOT a good idea. The withdrawal symptoms are far far worse than any benefit a glass or two of wine can give you.
