parnate - question cybercafe

Posted by linkadge on October 18, 2003, at 16:46:47

I just started parnate - just under 2 weeks ago. Anyhow, I've been having heart problems - palpatitions and loud heartbeat - I am only at 20 mg. Does this subside. After you had been on it for a long time, were you contious of your heartbeat? This has been a problem for me on other meds, maddening at times.

Thanks

i don't remember ever having this sorry (it's been about a year) .... the only thing i remember is lowered blood pressure and orthostatic hypotension.... my blood pressure was lowered by parnate

i didn't have any problems with heartbeat, i would just monitor my blood pressure after eating certain risky foods.... i'd suggest you talk to a medical professional, or try the maois yahoo group

what did your doctors say in the other cases? did it turn out to be something serious?
i hope you can tolerate it this time around, parnate is really a great drug (for me anyway)

also i think it does get less stimulating with time, maybe if you can safely last the first month you will see improvements ??? (i.e. less stimulating, easier on heart?)

i was on 20mg for about 5 weeks and had pounding and/or rapid heart-beat problems that never went away (may have improved a bit though, cant remember). i also had pretty bad postural hypotension-- not sure if that's paradoxical or not (given the heart effects), but yeah. Interestingly enough i haven't had any postural hypotension on Nardil so far (2 mo.s @ 60mg). Anyway good luck.
