Zyprexa - Diabetes connection question

Posted by DanielJ on October 17, 2003, at 7:30:09

Some web sites post data linking the AP Med Zyprexa to diabetes. Is it possible that the diabetes itself is more related to the significant weight gain and modified eating habits that some patient experience while taking Zyprexa? My son is taking 20mg per day Zyprexa and after taking it for 3 months, has not gained any weight. However.. He is very active physically, excercising nearly 4 hours each day.

Thats my opinion. I put on weight, was at risk of diabites. Then I lost the weight, my cholesterol went low again and the risk of diabites was gone.

When I tried zyprexa - no exaggeration I put on 10lbs in 10days! I guess some people don't have a drastic increase in weight. The med made me so hungry - I could barely contain myself :)
