my husband had been on effexor for about 9 months. He has gotten his anxiety under control but is very distant to me and the kids. he is acting 16 all over again - looking for a good time and craving the spotlight. anyone else go through something like this? he won't admit that the medicine might be ruining our relationship.

You have a reason to be concerned in my opinion. I was on Effexor for a few years and the way your describing your husband was how I behaved with my family. I almost lost a 22 yr marriage over my behaviour. Thankfully my husband, who I had seperated from at the time because I "Thought" the grass was greener on the other side convinced me that my personality had changed and for the sake of our boys, asked me to go back to a shrink. I did, came off the effexor and couldn't believe the change in myself, I was feeling again which I hadn't been for a number of years. My husband and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary. Get your husband back to a shrink and off Effexor!!!

Oh my God, it's so true. I have actually TOLD people that I dont have feelings for them and I haev been friends with them for years! I have walked away from friendships and relationships like they were nothing. Effexor makes you almost numb and robotic and wanting to party all the time. You are speaking my life story!
